Perfect blend of History and Humor, best tour in Taipei! - I did the Taipei old town tour with James, and it was excellent! He gave such a great insight into the history of Taiwan/Taipei and a really unique insight into political and cultural dynamics answering every question thrown at him in great detail. But most of all he was hilarious and made the whole thing a great time keeping everyone involved and engaged. Great international group as well! Couldn't bring myself to try the pork floss ice cream, but maybe next time!

Taile’s Old Taipei Walking Tour - We really enjoyed TourMeAway’s Free Walking Tour of Taipei! Our guide, Taile, was not only incredibly knowledgeable and friendly but also made the entire experience so engaging. The tour lasted about 2 hours, which was the perfect amount of time to get good exercise and still have plenty to see and learn. Taile showed us many fascinating aspects of Taiwan, from its rich history to its vibrant culture. We walked away with a newfound respect for the culture and the people of Taiwan. We even got to try a drink made from seeds of the aiyu fig. The group photo was a nice touch. A wonderful experience—highly recommend it to anyone visiting Taipei! Thanks Taile!

Good walking tour of old town - We did the old town walking tour with Leo. He also had a female who assisted and it was her first time and she did a great job. We met at NTU Hospital MRT which was only one stop from Taipei Main Station on the Red Line. This tip based walking tour takes you through Taipei's old town, i228 Peace Memorial Park, the Presidential Office, Inner City Market, Zhongshan Hall, Ximending, and the Red House. Its a great introduction to Taipei and worth doing it on your first day to get some orientation of the city.

A well informed guide - Well worth doing, you get to see a fair few different aspects of the city, starting with the peace park, and some of the more troubled history, moving on to the market, and then to the city gates. Taile was our guide, and she was clearly very knowledgeable about Taiwan, beyond just what was required for the tour. She was able to answer all questions in detail and with confidence. An added bonus was that we bumped into her again afterwards and she helped us order some food in a Chinese speaking noodle house. I've removed one star as I was hoping for a bit more insider information into how to make best of our time in Taipei, which I was expecting from the "introduction" part of our tour, but as far as showing us the Old Town and giving us a lesson in the area's history, it was spot on. Although it's a walking tour it's not strenuous, with frequent breaks, and not a huge distance covered. The tour changes a minimum to secure a spot. A tip is recommended, I think we gave £20 sterling, which is a little above the $20 USD suggested.
