A delicious food and history tour to celebrate Mexican Culture - Our guide, Francisco, was the most memorable part of our food tour. Don’t misunderstand me, the six typical Mexican food dishes that we tasted were delicious. But is was Francisco who was the star of the tour. He was a fabulous ambassador for Mexico and an excellent historian in all things related to Zihuatanejo and the entire country.
My advice is to book this tour, and plan on not needing lunch that day.

Don’t miss it - Book the tour, you won’t be disappointed. The flavor of everything we tried was AMAZING. And I’ve had a lot of Mexican food. Francisco was a wonderful guide and had answers to all of our hard questions. We’ll be back with more family soon!

Delicious and Interesting - Paco is fantastic! This tour was delicious and informative. Pablo took us on a food tour of Mexico’s rich culinary history. Each place was well prepared for us and super accommodating and generous.

Learning the history of... - Learning the history of the food including how it’s cooked, where it originated and how it’s made today was very interesting. Food was all delicious and PLENTY!

A real tasty experience - We did the Zihuatanejo food tasting tour and it was great. We were picked up at our hotel at 9:00 am, which we thought was a little early for a food tour, but it was fine, and actually nice to do it before the day got too hot as there was a lot of walking involved. Our guide, Francisco, was delightful and very knowledgeable about the different foods we tried. We have been to Zihuatanejo many times and this tour took us to parts of the city that we had never been to, so it was nice to see new areas. We tried food at 5 different restaurants, each specializing in something different. We also visited one of the local farmers markets, the Mercado el Campesino. The tour finished with a tasting of some mescal that was made by a local producer. I highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in learning about the food and culture of Mexico.

Great Experience! - Francisco was an amazing host on this food extravaganza. We went to 5 different restaurants, sampling different types of fare all delish. Francisco is very knowledgeable and defiantly a foodie. He provided lots of interesting information and anecdotes about the food. We ended the tour with a special treat to a Mezcal tasting. I could not eat for a day after this tour, so much good food!

Great food. Great guide. Great city. - The only reason I did not give this a 5 is that I would have liked it to start more around lunch vs the morning (8:40am was pick up time). Other than that, excellent. Francisco (Paco) was great. We were the only ones on tour (wife and I) and he made us feel comfortable and welcome. He knows a lot about the area, the food and enjoyable to spend time with. We did I think 9 stops and it was all great. Very authentic food and delicious. Zihuatanejo was so much fun to learn about and walking through the various markets was great. I would highly recommend.

Fun but needs some improvements - Although our tour got off to a very rocky start (poor communication about time and place to meet), after an hour it was sorted out and we started the tour.
The GOOD - Our guide Francisco spoke very good English, was personable, helpful and interesting. We enjoyed the food and places he took us to. He was great at answering all our questions and even suggested some places we might enjoy that were not included in the tour (we tried some after and he was right!)
COULD BE IMPROVED - As we have done several food tours around the world, we found this one a little disappointing in comparison to many. We found the offerings at 3 of the 4 stops quite similar (to our Canadian taste buds). They were all delicious but we would have liked more of a variety. Also, 2 of the stops seemed very "Americanized". They were clean and modern, but the atmosphere could have been anywhere in the world. Francisco imparted a lot of his knowledge of the Mexican food history/culture which was interesting to a point. However, we all agreed that we often "zoned out" on what he was saying in this regard. We wanted a food tour that would introduce us to places in Zihuat which we could explore during our vacation there, not a culture/history tour of Mexican food in general........I guess we should have clarified that. We really liked the "market" tour we did at the end but felt it could have been a bigger part of the tour, with "tastes" being provided at some of the stalls as they do on most food tours we have been on. Also, more beverages needed to be included.
SUMMARY - It sounds like we didn't like the tour, but we did indeed have a good time and would recommend this tour. We would just have liked it better with some changes as above. Also, we felt that the price of the tour was too high considering the places we visited and the offerings of food/drink provided.
