Wonderful tour, which was part of a 2 day tour i booked with the same company Gran Colombia Tours. Cant go wrong! - lovely trip and pleasant tour guide Leslie. She was charming and engaging! Bogota is a nice place! Salt cathedral was beautiful in its own right and not to compare to the on in Krakaw, Poland. The drive to the lake was also worth it. The included lunch was sumptuous. If you have the 10 hours to spare to take this tour, then do it. you can sleep in the car to rest in between. What people need to know is that a level of good fitness is needed to walk to the lake and high altitude sickness can be a concern if you have not aclimated to the high altitude of the city. Cheers.

Gracias Diego, incredible memories! - We had such a fantastic experience with Diego! He contacted me the evening before we departed to ensure we were wearing proper shoes (the hike up to Lake Guatavita is a real hike!) and to make sure we had packed water, snacks, and any medicines we would need during the day. He and our driver Miguel were prompt, friendly, and happy to answer all our questions throughout the day! We had an incredible private tour up the mountain to Lake Guatavita, the views were amazing, the hike is VERY STEEP! and had the opportunity to purchase snacks and small trinkets from local vendors when departing the park. Our lunch in Zipaquira was excellent (!) and Diego helped us purchase some souvenirs in the shop next door before taking us on an excellent tour of the Salt Cathedral. It was a long day with plenty of time to rest and opportunities for photos. Would recommend it to anyone, totally worth the cost for the opportunity to have a private guide - definitely request Diego, he's the best!

wonderful and informative trip - The views at Lake Guatavita are breathtaking, and the Salt Cathedral is impressive in its enormity. Our tour guide Luis was fantastic and included so much detail; he was also happy to answer any additional questions and provide more context if needed. He was also incredibly conscientious in checking in with us in case we needed anything. My girlfriend had a hard time w the hike up to the area for viewing Guatavita and he let her take her time (the altitude was very challenging). Our driver Camilo was also wonderful, and we really appreciate their service on the tour. Also the food for the included lunch was absolutely delicious, if you do the private all day tour lunch is a MUST. The locations have a deep and rich history; between the indigenous pre-colonial and colonial histories there is so much to learn. We both enjoyed every second of it. Thank you Luis and Camilo!!!!

A Tour Filled with Rich Colombian History. - Truly a magnificent adventure featuring two of Colombia’s sightseeing treasures. From the natural beauty of the lake to the awe-inspiring wonder of the salt cathedral and mines, this is a trip worth pursuing for any visitor. There will be a lot of travel time, but even that has its visual charms. The provided lunch was also delicious and in a charming restaurant. Our host Leslie and driver Diego were fantastic and made this tour one filled with memories for a lifetime.

Wonderful Tour - If you are new to Bogotà, don’t miss the chance to visit Lake Guatavita. This is quite possibly the origin of the El Dorado legend and definitely worth a visit either before or after visiting the Gold Museum. Combined with a visit to the Salt Cathedral made this one of our favorite tours. Was also fantastic to see the countryside on the way to the tour sites. Tour guide was excellent. Driver was excellent. Highly recommend this tour.

Salt mine in Zipaquira: A excellent experience for a-day private tour from Bogota - The tour was very well organized. We had the pick up at the hotel in Bogota on time. On the way we had nice exchanges on Colombia with the guide. In the mine, a experience guide is a true added value, as we can go at our rythm, skip some of the repetitive religious stations, and enjoy the impressive mine salt. We came back by train. It was also a good experience to have a lunch at local restaurant. In summary an excellent experience

Long Day, But Worth It! - We had a great day with our private guide, Juan Carlos. The cathedral was very interesting. We loved our authentic Colombian lunch in the small town of Sesquilé. From there we climbed to the top of hill to see the beautiful Guatavita Lagoon. Things to know: it’s a long day, but worth it; wear comfortable hiking shoes (the steps on mountainside are treacherous), and the tour guide at the lagoon spoke only Spanish, so having Juan Carlos translate for us was great.
