Three cheers for chocolate - Arch guy was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about Zürich and the history of it, which was included with the chocolate tastings. It was great to try three different types of chocolates From three different chocolatiers.

Chocolate with Annelize - What a great tour guide. Annelize on the Zürich, 11am, 22 June was amazing. Explained so much, and we had 4 stops and lots of different chocolate tasting. She was very considerate of everyones needs, despite the fact we had pouring rain. Tour highly recommended especially if it’s with Annelize.

Needs more chocolate! - This tour is somewhat misnamed. It’s a tour of Altstadt with three stops for tastings - at Sprüngli for Luxumbergerli, Teuscher for champagne truffles, and Läderach for various flavors of tempered chocolate (what you’d think of as Swiss chocolates). So it’s not all chocolate plus you wander all over the place going up and down hills and stairs. That could be mentioned in the description. It was irritating to walk up to Lindenhof (a lookout) only to be told ok we’re going now with no time for pictures… from a lookout! The guide did tell interesting stories, but the group was large and she wasn’t good about projecting her voice or facing everyone so we could all hear. One thing that bothered us was that at Sprüngli, each person picked our two flavors they wanted, then everything was put into one large box, then the guide distributed them in a city square, with everyone putting their dirty hands in the box and touching whatever, including the person who had just sneezed into her hands. For some reason, Annalise obtained one glove at Läderach to distribute pieces, but her other hand touched them anyway and after a few pieces, she was letting people stick their own hands in. On a positive note, Annalise was extremely conscious of nut and other allergies and made considerable effort to ensure each person had something they could safely eat at each stop. This tour should have focused more on chocolate. We passed at least two other chocolate shops that were not even mentioned! The truth is, you could do this on your own; Läderach gives samples anyway, and you could buy your own samples at all of the stops and then some for the price of this tour. A suggestion: you could end the tour with a list of other chocolate shops to visit.

Just do the free tour instead - The tour is not worth booking. Our tour guide Anastasia (?) was very unorganised, spoke too softly, and lacked leadership for quite a big group of people. About half of the people left the tour early even though they’d already paid. The guide was personable but when we were in the chocolate shops choosing a chocolate each it was a shambles and it seemed that the staff at the chocolatiers weren’t expecting big groups which the guide did not manage well. We spent about a third of the tour just waiting around and not being guided. There also wasn’t much information about the history of chocolate which seems like this would be the main point of the tour. Our guide did do the tour on a day when quite a lot was happening in Zurich so it may have been different on a different day or with a different guide. Just do the free tour and go and buy 3 chocolates from the shops for less than £27.

No chocolate on chocolate tour! - Don’t waste your time or money! The group was too big, and the guide could not speak up for everyone to hear. There was basically no chocolate. We only went into one chocolate shop. This was a walking tour while tasting a chocolate bar that she pulled out of her backpack. The bar was passed around for everyone’s dirty hands to touch and break off a piece. The store we were promised a tasting didn’t accommodate us, and after being told to go back and try, the store said there was no such agreement. What a waste of a few hours.
