Mikumi, located in the Morogoro region, is a town situated next to a National park of the same name. Unlike the well-known northern parks like Serengeti and Ngorongoro, this park is in the southern part of the country. It serves as a junction to the Ruaha river valley and Kilombero sugar factory, and also connects to the southern highland areas of Iringa and Mbeya. Close to Mikumi is the more major town of Kidodi, which happens to be in proximity to a station and junction of the Tanzania Railway Corporation.
