Depart from Cape Town and travel to Knysna with stops in Swellendam and Mossel Bay

Swellendam - Swellendam is a 2-hour drive from Cape Town. Departing from Cape Town at 8 am, the journey on the N2 is scenic, passing through Paarl and Worcester before arriving in Swellendam. This charming town connects the Overberg with the Garden Route and is nestled at the base of the Langeberg mountains near the R62 Wine Route, with the Koornlands River running through it.

Wilderness - From Swellendam, the route continues mainly inland until reaching the picturesque seaside town of Wilderness. Wilderness boasts stunning beaches, mountains, and the sea, offering a complete natural experience.

Knysna - Eventually, the journey reaches Knysna, the heart of the Garden Route. Here, the group will stay for the next three days to explore the area. Accommodation is at the Premier Resort The Moorings Knysna, or a similar establishment. This resort is an excellent base for exploring the Garden Route, set in idyllic surroundings on the banks of the Knysna lagoon, amidst enchanting woodland gardens. It offers private access to the lagoon, boat launch, and docking facilities. The serene setting in the secluded Knysna Heads provides spectacular views of the indigenous forest and is less than 3 km from the town center, offering very comfortable accommodation.

Depart from Knysna after breakfast and head off to Addo Elephant National Park

Botlierskop Private Game Reserve - After breakfast, the journey continues to Botlierskop Game Reserve for a game drive. A safari at Botlierskop Game Reserve offers an exhilarating adventure through the diverse landscapes of the Western Cape. Nestled between the Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean, this reserve is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including the Big Five. Traversing the rugged terrain in an open 4x4 vehicle provides opportunities to spot lions, elephants, rhinos, and more in their natural habitats. The reserve also offers breathtaking views, lush vegetation, and meandering rivers, making the safari an immersive experience in the region’s stunning natural beauty.

Plettenberg Bay - Plettenberg Bay is one of the most beautiful coastal towns in South Africa. Visitors can enjoy the stunning beaches and some of the finest restaurants in the area.

Robberg Nature Reserve - While in Plettenberg Bay, a visit to the Robberg Nature Reserve offers the chance to enjoy hiking within this protected area.

Knysna Heads - After visiting the Robberg Nature Reserve, return to Knysna to visit the Knysna Heads. These stunning formations can be enjoyed from various restaurants and provide a perfect backdrop for water sports. The East Head is more accessible, and visitors can follow the signposts from Leisure Isle to experience the dramatic scenery.

The Waterfront Knysna Quays - End the afternoon at the beautiful Waterfront Knysna Quays, enjoying a glass of wine and watching the sunset at one of the many lovely restaurants.

Depart from Knysna after breakfast. First stop is in Hermanus.

Hermanus - Hermanus is a beautiful seaside town, renowned as the world capital for whale watching during the season.

Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate - At Benguela Wine Estate, enjoy a world-class wine tasting of five different wines. This low-yield farm focuses on producing premium estate wines and offers plenty to see and do during a visit.

Betty’s Bay - From Benguela Cove Wine Estate, the journey continues along the Whale Coast to Betty’s Bay, where visitors can see African Penguins at the Penguin Colony.

From Betty’s Bay, the tour returns to Cape Town, arriving around 6 pm.
