Bangkok to Siem Reap by Land (Poipet Border Crossing)

Bangkok - Your morning starts with a 7 am hotel pick-up by the driver, followed by a 4 to 5-hour drive to the Cambodia border. The entire journey from Bangkok to Siem Reap takes about 9 hours, including the border crossing, but it may take longer during weekends or public holidays.

If you prefer to fly from Bangkok to Siem Reap, please inform us. We can assist with flight bookings (additional charge) and arrange free airport pick-up. We will also refund $60 per person for choosing the flight option.

Poipet - Poipet is a Cambodian border town along the Cambodia-Thailand border, serving as a major gateway for travelers and trade between the two countries. It connects Cambodia with the Thai town of Aranyaprathet. The Poipet-Aranyaprathet border crossing is one of the busiest land checkpoints between Cambodia and Thailand, frequented by tourists, expatriates, and locals for travel and trade.

Travelers can obtain a visa on arrival at Poipet. Ensure you have passport-sized photos and the required fee for the visa process. Your passport should be valid for at least six months from the date of entry and have blank pages for visa stamps.

Siem Reap Province - Exit Thailand at Aranyaprathet and enter Cambodia at the Poipet International border crossing with our assistance. After entering Poipet, continue the 150 km journey to Siem Reap through small villages and countryside with a friendly Cambodian driver. Check in at your accommodation and stay overnight. (Enjoy Pub Street tonight if you’re not too tired, or opt for a buffet dinner with a traditional show at an additional charge).

Explore Angkor Ancient City and Angkor Wat Sunrise Tour

Angkor Wat - Begin your day early at 4:50 AM to witness the stunning sunrise at Angkor Wat temple. After this mesmerizing experience, explore the Angkor Wat complex further. Return to the hotel for a hearty breakfast before continuing your tour of the UNESCO World Heritage site of the ancient Angkor city.

Angkor Thom - Angkor Thom, the capital city of the Khmer Empire, is a remarkable testament to extraordinary genius. Built in the 12th century under the reign of the greatest Khmer King Jayavarman VII, it is surrounded by a wall 3 kilometers on each side with five large gates.

Angkor Thom South Gate - Known as the South Gate of Angkor Thom, this is the main entrance to the city. Built in the late 12th century in Bayon style, it is the most famous and best-preserved of the major city gates from Angkor Wat Temple and is popular with visitors for photo stops before entering the city.

Bayon Temple - Built nearly 100 years after Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple is located at the center of a royal city. It is believed to have originally been a temple-mountain symbolizing Mount Meru. The Bayon of today belongs to the third and last phase of the art style. The temple’s grandness is evident in its architectural scale and composition, with over 200 large faces carved on 54 towers, giving it a majestic character. The faces are generally accepted to be images of the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, signifying the omnipresence of the king.

Baphuon Temple - Baphuon stands on a rectangular sandstone base with five levels of approximately the same size. The first, second, and third levels are surrounded by sandstone galleries. Baphuon is the first structure with stone galleries and a central tower. Two libraries in the shape of a cross with four porches stand in the courtyard, originally connected by an elevated walkway supported by columns.

Phimeanakas - Situated near the center of the Royal Palace area, Phimeanakas temple was originally crowned with a golden pinnacle, described by Zhou Daguan as the Tower of Gold. Built of roughly hewn sandstone blocks, it has little decoration.

Terrace of the Elephants - The elephants, ridden by servants and princes, tread quietly as if on a promenade. The steps of even length respect no obstacle. The forest they travel through is impenetrable to all but tiny creatures and the largest animals, which create paths through the vegetation.

Terrace of the Leper King - This terrace continues the grandeur of Jayavarman VII’s reign, faced with dramatic bas-reliefs on both the interior and exterior. During clearing, the EFEO found a second wall with similar bas-reliefs, believed by some archaeologists to be evidence of later rites. The EFEO has created a false corridor allowing visitors to inspect the relief on the first wall.

Ta Nei Temple - Located deep in the Cambodian jungle, about 200 meters west of the East Baray, Ta Nei Temple is difficult to find and not a popular tourist destination. Its obscurity makes it rewarding for adventurous travelers, offering the same charm that early Angkor explorers experienced. Built in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII, the temple is dedicated to Buddhist principles.

Ta Prohm Temple - Ta Prohm is the capital of the kingdom of the Trees, left largely untouched by archaeologists except for clearing paths for visitors and structural strengthening. Its natural state allows visitors to experience the wonder of early explorers. Shrouded in dense jungle, Ta Prohm is ethereal, with fig, banyan, and kapok trees spreading their roots over stones, intertwining branches and leaves to form a roof over the structures. The temple’s haunted charm is inescapable as the roots wind around the walls and towers.

Tonle Sap Lake & Kampong Phluk Village Half-Day Tours & Cambodian Circus

Bakong - After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up for a visit to Kampong Village and Tonle Sap Lake, with a stop at Rolous Market on the way. Roluos Market offers a genuine glimpse into the daily lives of local Cambodians, providing an authentic experience away from tourist-centric areas.

Kampong Phluk Floating Village - Continue to the fishermen’s village of Kompong Phluk on Tonle Sap Lake. During the dry season (February to August), the village can be reached by car or motorbike. From September, take a traditional wooden boat to Kompong Phluk, visit the village with its stilt houses, pagoda, and observe villagers’ activities before heading to the open water of Tonle Sap Lake.

Tonle Sap Lake - The largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, Tonle Sap Lake is a unique and significant ecosystem. Its dramatic seasonal variations see it shrink to about 2,700 square kilometers in the dry season (November to May) and expand to approximately 16,000 square kilometers in the wet season (June to October). The lake is a UNESCO-designated Biosphere Reserve, home to over 300 species of fish, numerous bird species, reptiles, mammals, and amphibians.

Phare, The Cambodian Circus - In the evening, enjoy a performance by Phare, The Cambodian Circus, a vibrant performing arts troupe in Siem Reap. The circus blends traditional Cambodian music, dance, theater, and modern circus arts like acrobatics, juggling, and aerial acts. Each performance tells a compelling story inspired by Cambodian folklore, history, and contemporary social issues. Transfer back to your hotel after the show.
