Highlights
  • National Museum of Ghana - It is the largest and oldest of the six museums under the administration of the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board opened on 5th March 1957 by Duchess of Kent, Princess Marina. ..Objects in the archeology section range from the Stone Age period to the recent historical past. Those on permanent exhibition at the ethnography gallery include chief’s regalia, indigenous Ghanaian musical instruments, gold weights, beads, traditional textiles, stools and pottery. There are also objects from other African countries acquired through exchange. Examples are Senufo masks from Ivory Coast, Zulu wooden figures and bead-ware from Southern Africa. In addition there are also ancient Ife bronze heads from Nigeria and Bushongo carvings from the Congo. Exhibits at the small but impressive art gallery consist mainly of contemporary Ghanaian paintings executed in oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolours and collages. Apart from these there are sculpture pieces in different media.

Additional Information

Our expeditions not only offer you more, but also center around your interests; locals, food, culture, lifestyle, and art. We develop the patience to guide you according to your pace, ensuring safety whether you’re in a group or alone. Dive into the history and culture of Accra and Ghana on this city tour. It will take you to landmarks like Black Star Square, Art Centre, Jamestown, the Ghana National Museum, and the bustling Markola Market. Be enlightened by a visit to the W.E.B. DuBois Center and end it all with a relaxing time at Labadi Beach. Your local chauffeur and guide will be at your service, answering inquiries and contextualizing each location. Please note, due to Accra’s notorious congestion, we sometimes opt for Uber, Yango, or local air-conditioned taxis instead of our company cars if the group is smaller than three people. They afford us more flexibility in navigating the city within our tour timeframe. We wouldn’t want to leave you stranded in traffic! Thank you!

Birthday Trip - I would be coming back to Ghana and book again with Kwame Tours Ghana!! Booking with Kwame Tours Ghana was the best!! We booked the Accra Delailed City Tour with them. They replied back to us quickly and 2 hours later we were on our way. Our tour guide Alex was the best!!! Alex was on time and welcoming. He very informative and helpful. Us being two females traveling alone Alex made sure we were safe and not taken advantage of. If there was anything we needed or was looking to get he was there to make it happen. He made my birthday trip one that I will always remember and I'll be back for sure!!! Thank you!!

Excellent Experience of Accra - Clinton was an amazing tour guide! In just a few short hours he was able to get us to the W.E.B. Dubois home, the Ghana National Museum (a GREAT experience), the Makola Market, Jamestown and the fishing boats, and the Arts Center. We never had to wait more than 2 minutes for an Uber/taxi and everything went smoothly. I feel like we were able to get a really good feel for Accra and important Ghanaian history and culture. I would fully encourage you to take a tour with Kwame Tours!

Great Accra experience - I appreciate the most my tour guide Clinton. He was extremely kind, knowledgeable and accommodating. Unfortunately the power was out at the W.E.B. Dubois museum so the conditions were less than desirable. The tour guide at the museum was very knowledgeable. I must say I learned a lot from him. My take away from that visit is the world is much smaller than it appears. I never imagined I would learn so much about an American from a Ghanaian. The Makola market was fascinating and somewhat overwhelming. I wish the weather was more conducive to a being in a crowded place. It was 90 degrees with an heat index of 100. Overall, I enjoyed today's excursions!

Fun day in Accra - We had a jam-packed but very enjoyable day seeing all the highlights of Accra. Clinton was a very knowledgeable and accommodating host. Vague details on timing allows for flexibility if there’s something you want to skip or spend additional time browsing the markets. Worry-free experience with transport and admissions handled, with lots of great photos. Really enjoyed closing out the day relaxing and people-watching at the beach.

Great tour of Accra - Clinton was such a great guide! He made our first visit to Accra worry- and stress-free, taking care of transportation, bags, and capturing great shots of us together at various landmarks. The tour itself was a great variety of education, adventure, and relaxing with a finish at the beach. Highly recommend!

Wonderful day - Although we were not able to visit all the places on our tour ( it was Sunday and places were closed) The national museum of Ghana was remarkable, the staff was so knowledgeable and kind. Our guide Clinton was wonderful. We so enjoyed our day. I would so recommend this adventure. Thank you for the memories.
