Wow!!! - Be prepared for a tour that will change your life! Thank you to James who was an amazing tour guide! We got picked up at 6am and began a 2.5-3 hr drive to start the tour at Kakum National Park (be sure to grab a bite to eat there if possible to holiday rice and chicken kabobs are fire!!) After completing the canopy tour (there are 7 bridges and a lot of uphill walking so be prepared) we headed to Cape Coast. I won’t spoil it all but you absolutely come out with a heavy heart! Take advantage of the gift shop there. The prices are great for a tourist attraction! Also the locals will swarm you at each stop to things. Be persistent in your “no” and keep it pushing if you don’t want anything. Cape Coast and Elmina are pretty much similar castles and have the same story just controlled by different people. Still worth seeing! Be ready for a rough ride there as well as many of the roadways outside of Accra are not fully developed etc. Bring a few snacks or drinks and something to stay entertained for the ride there because it’s a long one. Finally I have to add that James captured every moment for us on his camera and we have TONS of pics and videos of the day!

Castle and Canopy Walk - This trip was much needed. It allowed us to view other parts of Ghana outside of Accra. Our guide James was great. He knew the history past what is in the history and guide books. We appreciated lunch after visiting both sites. Be prepared for a lot of walking in the rainforest and in the castles. Out pickup was easy as well. James picked us up at our hotel and we immediately hit the road. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Ghana.

A walk through Ghana’s natural beauty and horrific history - This excursion is one of the reasons I made the pilgrimage to Ghana. The spectacular views as we crossed the rope bridges at Kakum National Park. Creates a gentle continuation to our next scheduled visit. The horrifically moving and at times emotional traumatic moments at Elmina and Gold Coast Castles.
Our Guide Daniel was exceptionally accommodating to our entire party. From the time of confirmation to our meeting. The flexibility of his approach to conducting the tours kept the group happy but safe. His attentiveness at all times ensured that everyone in the group felt he personally tailored the trip to meet our individual expectations. My elderly mother personal needs were addressed at all times. Making what is a long day for a 83 year old lady a special day. He met us with a smile and the entire day that smile never wavered. Lots of interaction with our group creating an educational, enlightening but most importantly an enjoyable experience. For what is in fact a difficult subject matter to convey. Our lunch venue, Anomansa restaurant produced a very generous and tasty meal opportunity. Our driver was courteous and prompt, transporting us from our apartment to our destination and back safely. Couldn’t have asked for a better time, thank you Kwame Tours.

A tour worth taking - The hike at Kakum was an amazing walk into nature while Elmina and Cape Coast were a deep learning experience. The ride was long, but the tour guides made it pleasant and joyful.

Incredible Tour of Assin Manso, Cape Coast Castle, Elmina Castle, and Kakum National Park! - I truly enjoyed the incredible tour to Assin Manso, Cape Coast Castle, Elmina Castle, and Kakum National Park provided by Kwame Tours. This tour was a perfect blend of history, culture, and nature, and I cannot recommend it enough!
The tour began at Assin Manso, once a final stop for many enslaved Africans before being sent to the Americas. Walking the grounds and learning about the significance of this site was emotional, but also incredibly powerful. Next, we visited the Cape Coast Castle. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate, offering insights into the transatlantic slave trade and sharing stories that made history come alive. We then had lunch at the Lemon Lounge, and the service and food were great. Next, we visited Elmina Castle and the guided tour was expertly done. Our driver, James, was very flexible and accommodating, and he graciously took pictures and videos of our group throughout the day to help us capture our memorable experiences. We ended our tour at Kakum National Park where we were able to learn about the local flora and fauna. It was a wonderful way to connect with nature after learning about such profound historical experiences.
Overall, this tour was well-organized, and our guides were kind, professional, knowledgeable, and respectful throughout. If you’re visiting Ghana, this tour is an absolute must for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of the country’s rich history while also enjoying its natural beauty.
Thank you for an unforgettable experience! I highly recommend this tour to anyone traveling to Ghana.

#Visit to Cape Coast, Elmina Castle and Kakum National Park - It was great hearing the history of the castles and the beautiful views of the Atlantic coast and the local fishing market. Beautiful views in Kakum National Park. An invigorating hike to the canopy walk and adrenaline packed canopy walkways. Great food at the restaurant after the canopy walk. Glad Daniel told us we would place our order ahead of time so we could get what we wanted and use our time wisely.

To know your past in order to move forward!! - A nice long day filled with historical facts about slavery, how it started and how great suffering and inhumane acts our forefathers were subjected to. Our guide for this tour was Daniel who facilitated the tour with a different tour guide at each site that we visited. We had a good 30 min of wifi on the bus. As it is a long drive pack snacks, lunch breaks at 1:30-2pm (not included).

Some issues, but It was a good time - Unfortunately, our group experienced a 2.5 hr delay because the original drivers bus had a technical issue. We waited quite a bit to get our day started. All in all, the tours itself was a great experience. Kwame also accommodated us with lunch even though it didn’t come with the tour. The driver was very aggressive and had us all scared but we enjoyed our time.

Do not recommend - A very rushed trip with the scariest driving I’ve ever encountered. We were told we would arrive at Cape Coast in 2 hours, but it was over 4 of unmoving traffic, speeding then slamming brakes, and false hope that we were going to get there soon and be able to have something to eat. This trip is not 9-12 hrs like the description said - it is more like 14-15, most of which is spent in close encounters with other vehicles and pedestrians. Despite the terrifying driving, James was a good guide at first, professional, but towards the end, he made some very gendered remarks that did not sit well with me or the other woman on the trip. From then, on the drive back, he acted like a different person, driving even more recklessly in the dark after we had told him how uncomfortable it made us, and blasting music and singing manically in the car, making it impossible to rest after a long, hot day. We got back around 9:30/10pm after leaving at 6am. This was an expensive tour, and by the end I felt like it did not justify the price at all. The locations we visited were amazing and powerful, but we weren’t given the time to properly absorb that, being rushed from spot to spot without enough moments to respect the grave significance of the surroundings. If I could go back, I would choose a different tour or arrange my own transportation to Cape Coast and go from there. I returned to my accommodations feeling very shook up.
