An incredible day trip - Kumasi is a 6 hour drive from Accra. Our driver, James, checked in with us the day before to confirm the pick up location. We had selected the 5.30am start time. He was at our building from 5am allowing us to get on the road early. His colleague, Joseph also accompanied us to act as guide. Some parts of the journey required using roads that were riddled with pot-holes but James drove us deftly and confidently. We stopped at a rest stop for a toilet break and snack. There are not many stopping options along the way but when we needed another toilet break, James managed to negotiate the use of a bank rest room. We reached Kumasi after 10am and did a series of workshops around the indigenous crafts. I was pleased to try out a kente loom, learn about how cocoa plants are grown in the midst of a real farm, and try out adinkra printing. We visited the Ashanti palace and then the sword museum. Wary of the drive home we picked up lunch to go from a lovely local restaurant set around a lake. With traffic it was a 7 hour drive back but our two guides kept the banter going and helped the time pass. James did most of that drive in the dark, through rainfall at times and across the same pot-holed roads. He had the toughest task that day and was amazing. We reached our accommodation around 11pm. My mother and I have raved endlessly about how much we enjoyed the day trip. The bad roads make the day more difficult than it needs to be. I would suggest you do it as an overnight trip. But I would highly recommend the Kumasi trip with Kwame Tours.

OUTSTANDING!! - WOW!!! What an amazing day tour. We accomplished so much in a day, but yet never felt rushed or that we had missed out on anything. Kwame was extremely professional in handling all the arrangements and assuring us that we were going to have a great time - and he didn’t disappoint 👍🏽 Our very knowledgeable tour guide Daniel was the BEST! He was very attentiive to our needs, always checking and making sure we had a clear understanding of how the past had impacted and influenced the Kumasi and Ghanian culture, and was a great negotiator bartering to make sure we got the best deals when shopping for souvenirs. This is a tour not to be missed.

Great experience with wonderful tour guide - The trip to Kumasi was a great experience. Kwame Tours ensured we visited the right spots with consideration given to the mobility of the seniors in our group. Since our tour was one day and the drive from Accra took several hours, I appreciate Kwame planning ahead with his local network to ensure the activities went smoothly.

Cultural Learning, Creative Arts Activities, & Wonderful Guides - I just got back from a wonderfully educational and artistically creative trip with Kwame and Mike. Even though I had booked from the U.S. on Expedia that didn't mention that this tour was a 4-person minimum, Kwame decided to take me solo. He and Mike were great hosts, they are energetic and outgoing. They really know the area they tour. Their skills in getting around in wild traffic is amazing to watch. The locations and activities that they take you to are just amazing. I know so much more about the Ashanti Kingdom than ever exposed to in a lifetime of American education. I wanted to go to this region to witness the Kente Cloth production center. They made this happen. As a bonus we toured the Coco farm at the Kente Cloth Center. One of the biggest take aways I had from this trip is the commitment of Kwame & Mike, they took on this trip after just return the day before from the same trip. When I come back to Ghana again I will book my next tours with Kwame!!!
