Highlights
  • Wadi Alhoqain - Enjoy swimming in the deep blue pools of Wadi Al Hoqain, located about 1 hour and 15 minutes’ drive from Muscat. Upon arrival, we will walk along the gentle slopes of the Wadi, leading to the tunnels of Wadi Al Hoqain. From there, we will swim through the beautiful water pools.
  • Al Hazm Castle - After visiting the Wadi, we will head to Al Hazm Castle, situated in the town of Al Hazm in the Wilayat of Rustaq in the Al Batinah region, which is very close to Wadi Al Hoqain. This impressive military stronghold features traditional Omani defensive elements such as a massive wooden gate, secret escape tunnels, dungeons, cannon towers, and slots on the upper floors. There are also troughs above the main entrance for pouring boiling oil or date syrup on attackers.

Built in 1711 AD by Imam Sultan bin Saif Al Yarubi, son of Imam Saif bin Sultan, Al Hazm Castle served as his capital after moving from Rustaq. The castle contains his tomb and was restored by the Ministry of Heritage & Culture in 1996. Architecturally, the fort is notable for its lack of timber in the ceilings, which are supported by round arches on columns. The walls are at least three meters thick.
