Great rides let down by detiorating reliability - Our 3rd trip to Alton Towers and one we enjoyed the most as the park was not too crowded with bus tours full of rowdy teens. Queues were about 30 minutes for 13, Wickerman and Galactica. Longest queue was for Congo river! We took 5 major rides and several smaller ones after arriving around 11.30. However the Skyride was closed ALL DAY (19 July 2024) and it meant we spent easily 15-20 minutes walking between rides - only to find some closed when we got there. It definitely impacted our visit - kids were tired on a hot day. Monorail being up and down only added to the walking. It was a clear sunny day too - no rain. Every roller coaster we went on closed at some stage and Rita was so intermittent that we just gave it a miss. A real pity - could be great but given the reliability and poor communications in advance about it (if it’s scheduled to be closed for the day, tell people before the book) I would say prepared to be tired and possibly disappointed at the end if your day.

Not my best Alton Towers experience - Having been to Alton Towers many times, I was highly disappointed with today's visit. It was a busy time to go, and was expecting to queue for some time, which was not an issue. My bug bear today was queuing up for 2 rides which experienced technical issues, which went on for some time, in the end we decided ro abandon those rides, but so much time was wasted, we only had 3 rides throughout the day. We got chatting to a young couple in another queue who had experienced the same thing with a different ride. So at least 3 rides with technical issues! Alton Towers really needs to get it's act together!!

Hit and miss - Rides closing sporadically. Waiting on in queue, only to be received by another closure message! Only good thing the staff professionalism and courtesy When tickets were wrong due to computer glitch. Big shout out to Dom in Customer services for atleast alleviating this issue.

Far too many rides breaking down throughout the day - Very disappointing visit due to the large number of rides breaking down throughout the day. There are 9 “Thrill Rides” at Alton Towers, 7 had at least one breakdown each. 4 were broken and closed at the same time (see screenshot). Nemesis Reborn was closed for over 2 hours while the maintenance team fixed the problem. These rides broke down during our visit; - Rita - Nemesis Reborn - Nemesis Sub-Terra - Oblivion - Wicker Man - Galactica - Spinball Whizzer With the large number of breakdowns it’s difficult to justify the ticket price.

Alton Towers? Find an alternative! - Multiple rides breaking down after queuing for hours. No replacement fastpass vouchers offered for alternative rides as in other parks (even though we were literally at the front of the queue). Generally no one could care less at Guest Relations. Save your money, go to other parks that deserve your custom.

Avoid at all costs - Absolute shambles of a park. Queue times on app, ride entances anf announcements by staff way out. Joined queue for Thirteen with 75 minute wait....2 hours & 46 minutes later, near the front of the queue to be told ride broken and to leave the queue! Then spent another hour queuing at guest services to demand refund as by 3.30pm still 0 rides ridden. Disgusted to see management hiding behind closed doors and the final insult was the car parking wouldn't be refunded. Completely ruined day and will never be returning

Avoid most rides broken hire some mechanics!! - Disgraceful arrived to find half the rides broken down and what was left open then had huge 1 hour 40 mins waiting times was so bad we left at 1 pm having only got on Rita with a fast pass on arriving smilier was broken followed by nemesis then oblivion never opened at all in the time we stayed then wickerman followed by galactica what the hell are they doing obviously not doing proper checks early enough before the park opens test runs starting at 9am when the park opens at 10 is unacceptable it does not allow time to fix any issues ready for park opening staff looked like they couldn’t be bothered we complained to guest service's who also couldn’t be bothered and just said send a complaint in writing avoid this place now it’s a shame as our past 3 visits was great will travel to thorpe park again next time. Will not return here ever again ruined our day completely

Total waste of a day and money - My sons visited Alton Towers yesterdays with his end of Year 11 school friends. He was looking forward to going for ages. He hadnt been for a few years. After queuing for Smiler for 2 hours and then Thirteen for 1.5 hrs, which broke down just before he got on it he only managed to get on 1 ride all day. He only had an hour left before he had to get back on his coach. No time to queue for anything else. Stood in queues for 3.5 hours in the heat for 1 ride. Its really not good enough.

Merlin's lost his magic - Dreadful experience, rides constantly shutting, people queuing for over an hour to then be told the ride has been shut. Between 3 of us we only successfully got 7 complete rides in total. Absolutely disgraceful

Taking the piss with the rides constantly breaking. - Went for a friend's birthday, spent 80 minutes queuing on Thirteen only to have it break down and kick everyone out, spent another 80 minutes queuing for Oblivion only to be kicked out by staff due to another breakage. Both rides were up and running again in fifteen minutes after we had already left and queued up elsewhere. Spent well over £250 on food, entry and travel only to be able to go on a single rollercoaster in the span of six hours.
