Negombo is loaded with places of worship. Local people were so effectively changed over to Catholicism by the Europeans, that the town is called ‘Little Rome’. Most inns and guesthouses are situated at the principle street that travels north from the town community, going corresponding to the sea shore.

- The historical ruins of Anuradhapura are among the most striking sights in South Asia. This extensive establishment holds a wealth of archaeological and architectural marvels, including massive dagobas (brick stupas), age-old pools, and deteriorating temples, constructed during Anuradhapura’s reign over Sri Lanka for a millennium. Presently, several of these sites continue to serve as sacred spots and temples; regular ceremonies bestow upon Anuradhapura a liveliness that sharply contrasts with the museum-esque feel at Polonnaruwa.
