Highlights
  • Gala Gapisi -  The tour begins at the main entrance of the Old City, known as Double Gates. During the tour, you’ll see the Chain, Sailor, and Cat Houses, Bukhara and Multani Caravanserais, Juma Mosque, and Maiden Tower. The guide will share the history of the Old City and the mentioned buildings.
  • Palace of the Shirvanshahs - The Shirvanshah Palace, a gem of Azerbaijan’s architectural heritage, was the former residence of the rulers of Shirvan and is located in the heart of Baku. The stunning complex includes the Divan-Khan courtyard, a tomb, a mosque from 1441, a bathhouse, and the mausoleum of court scholar Seyid Yahya Bakuvi.
  • Bukhara Caravanserai - Built in the late 15th century along the trade route of Icherisheher in Baku, the Bukhara caravanserai features a quadratic shape with a prominent portal and an octagonal yard. The caravanserai is surrounded by balconies and private rooms, including chapels. The octagonal yard served as an open-air hall where travelers and merchants gathered after daily trade activities. Restoration in 1964 revealed the caravanserai’s large-scale structure, highlighting its architectural composition.
  • Maiden Tower - Often compared to the Eiffel Tower of Baku, the Maiden Tower served as a fortress for the Shirvanshahs in the 12th century. Its architectural design includes extraordinarily thick walls at the base, starting at five meters and narrowing to four meters at the top. Today, the interior features old photographs and a souvenir shop, with the rooftop offering a stunning panoramic view of Baku Bay and the Old City, making the climb worthwhile.
  • Miniature Books - Located in the old city of Icheri Sheher, the Museum of Miniature Books is recognized by the Guinness Book of Records for having the largest collection of miniature books. Founded by Zarifa Salahova, the museum opened on April 2, 2002, and now houses over 5,600 books from 66 countries.

Old part of Baku by Fuad - When we visited to Old town of Baku, we tried going up of the tower. You will see on the up surrounded walls by glass. Anyway you will be able to see the all part of the old town. It was really nice. Baku is windy city, but don't worry for that. You will see a lot of restaurants, then you can warm up with tea when you catch the glasses :) Overall we loved the all experience which is organized by Fuad. Special thanks to our guide Emin for the previous tours and driver Ramil. His car also was very clean all the time, although it was black car. Highly recommended!

Old City Walking Tour - I booked 2 hours tour for my first trip in Baku. It was business trip for 14 days. That’s why, I tried to visit some places during my visit in Azerbaijan. Old city was very clean and surrounded with walls from all sides. We went to Shirvanshah’s palace as well - if you are keen on the history it is worth to visit there. I would recommend this tour to all tourists and business people as well.
