- Adiyogi Shiva Statue Chikkaballapur - Among the most captivating icons of Shiva that has captured the hearts of millions of Hindus in India is this magnificent statue, situated amidst nature, approximately 70 km from Bangalore. The Adiyogi Shiva stands at an impressive height of 112 ft, set against a tranquil, verdant, and enchanting backdrop of rocky hills. The presence of Shiva, one of the three principal deities of Hinduism, is truly awe-inspiring. It holds the record as the largest bust statue ever created in the world. This statue was installed by Sadhguru of the Isha Foundation in 2023 and is a replica of an earlier statue in Coimbatore. The site is already attracting tens of thousands of visitors and is poised to become a major tourist attraction in the region. Let us offer our respects to Lord Shiva!
- Sri Vidurashwatha Temple - Ancient Hindu temples in India are enveloped in mystery as much as history. The Snake Temple at Vidurashwatha is one-of-a-kind, with no other temple like it in the entire country! Snake Gods are worshipped to bless devotees with children and good health. Devout Hindus who are denied these blessings invoke Vasuki, the Snake God of fertility, and have a statue installed on the premises to appease him. To date, there have been over 15,000 such statues, and the number continues to grow! The sight of these endless rows and columns of statues, with worshippers circling them, monkeys leaping from one to another, devotees applying turmeric and vermillion, and priests guiding the pilgrims, are typical scenes here. Visit this temple for a mystical experience! Vidurashwatha is also known as the Jalianwala Bagh of South India. On April 25, 1938, 32 Indians were shot dead by the British for defying an order not to hoist the Indian Flag during the Freedom movement. A memorial has been built to honor these brave souls.
- Shri Veerabhadra Swamy Temple - Lepakshi is a hidden gem in the architectural wonders of South India. The immense quantities of stones quarried, transported, sculpted, and assembled to construct temples in India over two millennia are a testament to the dedication and beliefs of Hindus. The Veerabhadra Swamy Temple of Lepakshi is a prime example of Vijayanagara architecture, which flourished during the 14th-16th centuries in the Deccan. Visit Lepakshi to: Witness the largest monolithic stone statues of a Bull and King Cobra; Be amazed by an ornate hanging pillar with people passing their handkerchiefs underneath it; Marvel at the 500-year-old paintings depicting Hindu mythology on the temple ceilings; Hear the story of how Lepakshi got its name through a vulture named Jatayu, who aided Lord Rama in searching for his wife; Admire and photograph the intricate carvings adorning the walls and pillars of this 500-year-old temple. If you haven’t visited Hampi yet, or don’t have the time to do so, this is your opportunity.
