Experience the perfect blend of romance and adventure this Valentine’s weekend in Bentota. With warm, humid weather and a mix of thrilling water sports and historic explorations, it’s an ideal getaway for couples.
Romantic Mornings by the Water
Bentota, with its serene beaches and lush landscapes, offers the perfect backdrop for a romantic Valentine’s weekend. As the sun rises, casting a gentle glow over the water, couples can start their day with an exhilarating wakeboarding session on the calm waters of Bentota. Available from 8:00 AM, this activity is perfect for those who love a mix of adventure and romance. Whether you’re a seasoned wakeboarder or a first-timer, the friendly team at the water sports center will ensure you have a memorable experience.
Simply Excellent! - The holiday season in Sri Lanka is not the ideal time to be spontaneous with your trips with most activities being fully booked. However, thanks to ZRI Adventures we were able to live to our spontaneity and try out wakeboarding for the first time. It was fast confirmation and booking and the water sports centre were friendly and helpful. Tip: If you happen to be a decent wakeboarder try your luck with the long rope. It’s an absolute thrill! After an invigorating morning on the water, take a leisurely stroll along the beach, hand in hand, as the gentle breeze and the sound of the waves create a calming atmosphere. The warm, humid weather with a mild breeze makes it ideal for a romantic walk without the harsh sun.
Exploring the Historic Charm of Galle
For those who wish to delve into the rich history and culture of the region, a day trip to Galle is a must. Available from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, the Galle Fort & Bentota Day Trip offers a unique blend of European charm and Sri Lankan biodiversity. Wander through the narrow streets of Galle Fort, where the architecture and ambiance transport you to an ancient European city. The fortifications and old town are a testament to the colonial history that shaped this region.
The trip also includes a visit to the biodiverse Madu River, where you can explore the lush mangrove forests and spot vibrant tropical birds. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a crocodile basking in the sun. This excursion is perfect for couples who enjoy a mix of history, nature, and adventure.
Great experiences - We really enjoyed this excursion, with the main attraction being the turtle centre, the water safari and the visit to Galle. All of the activities were enjoyable and the driver we had was the best we had during our week on Sri Lanka. It’s worth noting there are charges for the turtles and water safari on the trip, so you need to add this into your trip budget. A great day out highly recommended. (Reviewed on 2024-10-11)
Sunset Serenity and Evening Delights
As the day winds down, Bentota offers a tranquil setting for a romantic evening. The partly cloudy skies provide a stunning backdrop for a sunset walk along the beach. The high cloud cover ensures that the sun’s rays are softened, creating a picturesque scene as the sun dips below the horizon.
For dinner, indulge in the local cuisine at one of Bentota’s charming seaside restaurants. The fresh seafood and traditional Sri Lankan dishes are a culinary delight, perfect for a romantic dinner by the sea. As you dine, the gentle sound of the waves and the cool evening breeze create an intimate atmosphere, making it a perfect end to a day filled with adventure and romance.
Bentota, with its blend of adventure, history, and natural beauty, offers a unique Valentine’s weekend experience. Whether you’re wakeboarding on the tranquil waters, exploring the historic streets of Galle, or enjoying a romantic dinner by the sea, Bentota promises a memorable escape for couples seeking both excitement and relaxation.
