  • Museo Paleontologico de Villa de Leyva - Situated at km 1.5 on the Vía Arcabuco, this museum is housed in a colonial architectural gem built in 1570 as a mill. It preserves paleontological and cultural heritage, featuring fossil pieces from the Cretaceous period, 130 million years ago. The collection includes 2,425 pieces, with 441 on display. Additionally, it boasts around 130 species from various ecosystems in the country and a live collection of native species for educational, research, and conservation purposes. Angel was awesome! - Angel, our tour guide was so great! He took us to the small villages around Villa De Leyva, made a stop to the chocolate museum and took us to a bunch of different historical spots and was able to take plenty of pictures. He was so knowledgeable of the land and made us feel at home

Villa de Leyva - Amazing experience! - Whether you are going solo or have a small group, I highly recommend this private tour. My guide Marcelo, was awesome! Extremely knowledgeable and upbeat, he met me at my apartment to get picked up and made additional stops to show me a little more of colombia! Once we got to Villa de Leyva we got to see the major sites and he even took me hiking to to the Christ (you'll see it when you get there) . Everyone that goes to Bogota needs to make a little time to go see this place!

Custom Experience, Perfect Day! - We happened to (unknowingly) select the day of a major kite festival, so Juan (our guide) was kind enough to contact us in advance and ask us if we wanted to switch our time to a different day, or if we wanted to adjust our itinerary around some of the challenges the festival posed. We chose the latter and had an amazing time cruising the city back streets, learning about the revolution, ducking into some quiet shops, taking our time at the small but incredibly interesting fossil museum, and calmly strolling the streets of Raquira (the pottery village). The whole experience definitely needs multiple days to take it all in, but we were squeezed by time and the Puente calendar, and we still had an amazing time! Gracias Juan!

Villa de Leyva maravillosa - I had the lucky chance of being escorted by Angel. He was an amazing tour guide(funny, welcoming and we really connected as friends). It was a long journey but all the stops along the way were great. Between learning about the independence of Colombia (history and final site battle), food, museums (giant fossil), touring Villa De Leyva, and a few other side attractions that even some local Bogotans have never been to, it was a great experience with Angel. I would definitely recommend requesting him if possible. As long as you let him know your interests, he will tailor the excursion around that.

An incredible all-day experience - Our guide (Marcel) and driver (Alex) made this a truly memorable experience. On the way up, we learned so much about the region and stopped at historical sites and a great place for breakfast on a lake. Marcel is extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and funny. It's a fairly long car ride there and back, but he makes it fun with the conversation and he's constantly pointing out interesting things about the area so the car rides become enjoyable components of the day. Villa de Leyva itself was the highlight of our entire trip to Colombia. It's a spectacular town with so much to see (and eat). The pictures don't do justice to the beauty of the region that frames the town. It's a really special place and so easy to navigate. Because this is a private tour, Marcel was so accommodating when it came to personalizing the itinerary. For example, we made a quick side trip to a winery outside Villa de Leyva after we mentioned our interest in the local wines. Alex was a friendly and professional driver who got us around efficiently and safely. Marcel and Alex, we can't thank you both enough for such a great day that we'll always remember!

GoBogota not good to tour with outside of Bogota - I was disappointed with my tour to Villa de Leyva with GoBogota after paying close to $300 for a one day trip. As expected after paying this amount, I expected the best service, and instead found the service 2nd rate. The tour company said that I was to visit four places in Villa de Leyva on a Wednesday, only to find that the Casa Terracota was closed on Wednesdays, and the museum of Casa Museo Antonio Narino and Casa Museo Capitan Antonio Ricaurte had been closed for months for renovations. This tour company should have known about these closures. When I mentioned this to them, they said, well I got to go to other places as an alternative. Then it took some coercion to get them to refund me some money, and they did, but only $50. Honestly, I would not have gone on this tour knowing that GoBogota's itinerary was not accurate and their tour administration office was not up to par for the price that I had to pay. The only redeeming thing that happened was the driver/guide, Pierre, who did what he could to make the trip worthwhile and pay for my lunch and try to make the day good.
