3 day tour is the way to go - What a great trip. Colca canyon is so beautiful. WE maybe didnt need a guide though it was nice that someone else did the planning. The informative portion of the guide was minimal. He was a lovely human and we enjoyed him. HE gave us a lot of space to hike on our own. We were also so glad we did the 2 nights. We had the time so we just had more time in each place in the bottom (san juan de chuccho and sagalle). Sagalle had some mean little biting bugs so bring bug spray and don't be out of the cold spring water with skin exposed!!

Would recommend! - Amazing tour, Rafael had a great energy and so many interesting things to teach - Peruvian fruit tasting and many other facts about Peru. All in all an incredible experience!

3 day hike at Colca Canyon - Alex was our guide for the 3 day/2 night tour in Colca Canyon. He was knowledgeable, super friendly, and made our experience much more enjoyable. The accommodations, food, and transportation were great. I recommend doing the 3 day hike over the 2 day as it gives you more time to enjoy the hike, go at your own pace, and take-in the surroundings.

Recommended:) - We decided on the 3-day tour, which turned out to be much more relaxed. Not only do you spend one day in San Juan de Chuccho, which is beautiful, but you also have the hostel and pool all to yourself the next day until the other groups come. We are especially remembered for our guide Willy, with whom we were two, which allowed us to get into great conversations. Even when one of us suffered from altitude sickness, he showed himself to be very emphatic and was always concerned about our well-being. Without him, who was able to show us so much and tell us so much, and who was also likeable and open, the experience would not have been nearly as great.

Top! (See comments) - A magnificent trekking, very well accompanied by Alex - kind, interesting, attentive - and with excellent organization Summary accommodation but in idyllic settings I recommend!!! PS: watch your knees for the first day's descent. Possibility of riding mules on the 3rd day, great too

Amazing Experience - It was an absolute amazing experience. 3 days were really just the right pace. We could enjoy all with a lot of free time. And had enough time to recover in the nights. Everyday you hike for about 3.5 hours. It is nothing for complete beginners. Some experienc is not bad. It was my highlight in 10 weeks of Peru. The food was great and the bedrooms were basic.

Excellent 3 day trekking in loop from the top of the canyon to the bottom and back up. Spectacular views all the time - Everything worked well. The hotel pickup was on time. The trip to the first stop at the condor viewing point went well and terminated at the start of the first trekking (after a pit stop for an excellent breakfast). After meeting our guide Alex, a great guy, with excellent knowledge of the area and a super friendly attitude, the first day trekking was fantastic and it took us from the top of the canyon to the bottom, through spectacular scenery. It also gifted us with some condor sighting which again was fantastic. The accommodation was very peaceful, with great food, and provided a great place to rest. The second day took us to the oasis via a reasonable trek that again provided formidable views. The oasis is literally that: a green spot at the bottom of the canyon with access to a swimming pool. Just what you need at this point. The third start early for the most demanding part of the trek, with a 1000 m climb to be completed in 3 hours. Hard work but again the views help with motivation and distracting from the effort required to climb. After this it was breakfast, then thermal baths with super hot and cold pools; great for your aching legs. Finally buffet lunch and back to Arequipa. Absolutely loved it. Totally recommended.

Not the best hike - The hiking was a miserable experience, food and accommodation was ok. The guide was pleasant enough but mostly absent and clearly didn't want to be there. Scenery was nice but the hiking was rough, in places quite dangerous, relentless and not enjoyable. It wasn't an achievement, more of a relief to be over. The best bit was the limited time at the hot springs on the last day. Lots of pressure for timings on last day and the lunch you need to buy was not great value for money. However, you didn't have much choice. I can't say I recommend it.
