Ferry yes! - Relaxing and smooth - easy to purchase vendors speak English buy from ferry company at port if you have cash you’ll be able to buy from the employees who work close to the main line (Ultramar tickets $34 USD round trip.)Took taxes from downtown Cancun $ 12.50 USD each way- don’t bother with shuttle $40 that’s ridiculous - taxes give flat rate $250 pesos no need to haggle. Hotels - depending where you stay we stayed Hampton in cumbres a residential area and very safe. - next to a well known American Eatery Fridays- SAMs club and local fare authentic walking distance parking lot host Starbucks. It’s a mall area. I digress- take ferry to island mujeres beach is with it- when you see locals with coolers you know you’re in a sweet spot. The music on ferry is enjoyable as you cruise through the blue water smooth - there’s a bar and food but we didn’t go below deck. We sat on top deck- bring sunscreen. Get round trip ticket you save $2USD

Convenient and reliable Ferry Service - We started our journey to Isla Mujeres on a prepaid package to visit the Dolphin Center through a package purchased at our hotel. The package included round trip transportation and food on a boat that departed at 8am and returned at 2pm. The boat we were booked on was super crowded and departed behind schedule it was slow and took more than an hour to get to Isla Mujeres. This didn't leave us much time to go complete the plans we had for our day at Isla Mujeres. We decided to skip the return trip and take the Ultra Mar ferry back. The ferry had a departure back to Cancun every 30 minutes and was only $14 per person. We bought our ticket when we were ready to leave, boarded the ferry and departed quickly. The ferry was relatively new and very clean. We sat indoors in the air conditioned cabin. The seats were large and were set up a lot like an airline cabin. The ferry pulled out of the dock and left at a nice high speed. The ride was smooth and we were back in Cancun in about 30 minutes. Next time we will skip the package deals and just take the Ultramar ferry to and from Cancun. It's very convenient, inexpensive, clean, fast and comfortable.

Excellent Island to Unwind - Took the local ferry from the hotel zone Cancun had a very nice relaxing ride . got off the boat & there was plenty of hustle & bustle at the terminal, with people trying to rent you golf carts for the day I recommend you go a few streets down & a few blocks in BRING YOUR LICENSE We forgot ours & still were able to find someone to rent it to us for 45.00 for the whole day of 6 hours we stopped at Oscars along the way the drinks & FRESH guacamole & service were excellent

Don’t buy tickets in advance - The ferry was perfectly fine. Clean and on time both ways. I had an issue with the advance purchase though. It took almost 20 minutes for anyone to convert the “voucher” that you get into an actual ticket. Don’t buy in advance, just purchase your tickets at the ferry terminal.

Like herding cattle - Going to Isla Mujeres was great, but coming back was a nightmare. Had to wait in a very small very crowded, very hot place for a half an hour, then went to wrong boat, (but was told earlier to get in that line). Then was just told to get off, not told where to go. Thankfully a fellow standing on the dock in a uniform took us to the right place. Another half an hour in a very hot very crowded line, and we finally got on the right boat!!!

They don't accept, will pay double. - We purchased 5 round trip tickets for 145.00, confirmation # 1183230588. They did not accept our tickets in Apple wallet or the paper confirmation with scan code. We have to buy tickets again and were changed $150.00 at the ferry ticket office. We want a refund!!

Never again - The ticket agent would not accept our voucher and we had to pay again . We double paid for our tickets. We have tried to get reimbursed through Viator without any luck.
