Highlights
  • Paddywagon Tours - We begin with an introduction to Dublin City after which we leave the city behind and head south towards the Wicklow Mountains. Meet your fellow travelers for a great trip to the “Garden of Ireland.”

  • Wicklow Mountains National Park - As we leave the city we pass by Sugar Loaf mountain and descend through Ireland’s highest village Roundwood on your way to magnificent Glendalough.
Here we make a short stop at one of the most photographed locations in Wicklow, Lough Tay, which is also commonly called The Guinness Lake.

  • Glendalough Monastic Settlement - Renowned for its magnificent scenery and rich and varied heritage in terms of history and archaeology, Glendalough is famed for the Braveheart wedding scenes and it really is one of the most beautiful visitor sites in all of Ireland. You will have 2 hours to explore the deep valley with its ruined Monastic City of Celtic crosses, round towers and much more. Known as the valley of 2 lakes, we enjoy a leisurely stroll along the bank of the river, through the woods where we are greeted by babbling brooks, crystal cascades and the lakes of Glendalough. A real picture perfect moment.
If you are a fan of the Hollywood Blockbusters ‘PS I Love You’ and ‘Braveheart’ then join us on this tour! You will understand why Mel Gibson chose the Wicklow mountains to be the Highlands of Scotland and Glendalough to be the spot for the wedding scene. And then of course there are all the romantic scenes from ‘PS I Love You’, this is where Hilary Swank met Gerard Butler for the first time…you never know who you can meet!

  • Paddywagon Tours - We return to Dublin, delighted with our wonderful half day tour and with great photos and memories to last a lifetime.

I Love You. We traverse the Wicklow mountains to reach Glendalough (minimum halt of 1.5 hrs) - the valley harboring two lakes. Above and beyond our expectations. - The bus trip to our destination was excellent. There was interesting scenery and commentary by our guide. Our driver, Andre, was excellent. He made us glad we chose to not drive ourselves. Our guide Michael was a font of 'useless, essential' knowledge. He was very informative and even went above and beyond explaining the history of the name of one of our nieces. Overall we couldn't have asked for more.

Beautiful! - We had been doing some full day tours so it was nice to just do a half day tour to get out of the city and walk along some beautiful paths. The area is gorgeous and so peaceful by the lakes. There is a short hike up to a waterfall and an old monastery and graveyard to explore.

"Do as Jerry says" - Jerry was a very lovely tourguide, he had a lot of fun facts to share about Dublin and the Glendalough area and gave great recommendations for things to do after the tour as well. It was a literally walk in the park to the upper and lower lake and the monastic city. Due to it being a half day tour the visit was a little brief and we could've spend literal days in the national park! But it's the perfect start to your morning if you have further plans in the afternoon :)

Perfect day trip to Glendalough - Great half day with a knowledgeable driver who took us to a bonus spot with an amazing view. If you want to get out of Dublin and see the countryside but you’re not up for six hours in a bus or a multi day trip, this is a great way to scratch that itch. Glendalough is beautiful. Our driver didn’t join us for a walking tour there but it’s really not necessary.

Ian, Guide in Shining Armour - **Pro-tip: Have cash ready to tip your guide** Right from pickup, I knew Ian would be a great guide. As those new to Ireland, having a guide who gives you peace of mind while whisking you away into an unknown land is a heaven send. Surprise - we got lost and were late to our checkpoint coming back fo Dublin. Ian got in touch with Paddywagon, who got in touch with us (even though we don’t have cell service… it felt like divine intervention in the moment). We arrived back in Dublin in good spirits. Thank you for making our last day in Ireland fun, safe, and meaningful. Thank you, Ian & Paddywagon!
