Fantastic experience! Thanks Garth - The Food/diner tour was excellent. Garth has a lot of knowledge about the beijing (and Chinese) kitchen he will also give you little history lesson. For me it was a 10/10! Thanks again Garth

Insightful, Fun and Delicious - Garth was a fantastic host and we loved this tour around old Beijing. What made it special was the opportunity to have all different experiences in restaurants, bars, homes and even convenience stores. We tried things we wouldn’t have known about on our own. Garth bought the food and streets to life with his knowledge of the food and the town. With a passion that was infectious. It was also lovely to share an evening with fellow travellers. Thank you for a wonderful evening Garth

Mjamjam - It took me only 5 years of living in Beijing to take this tour and though I've spent a lot of time in the hutongs the tour brought us to several unknown spots. Garth and his co-guide were awesome, enthusiast foody's and storytellers. Def a must-do if you visit the capital and like food. Who doesn't?

Sign up now! Excellent food and history tour! - We visited China for a month and this was one of the highlights! My husband loves food, and this tour did not disappoint!!! In addition to fabulous food (from jenbing to donkey burgers to hotpot to the longest hand-pulled noodles we've ever seen...and more!) Garth gave us the history of each dish, as well as an amazing tour of the "real" Beijing hutongs (this is not the view you get from the rickshaw tours!) I have celiac disease and do not consume alcohol, but I went along for the history and I had a great time, even though I could not eat at the chosen establishments (China is not gluten-free friendly.) Garth went out of his way to bring some delicious fresh fruit for me (first time trying fresh mangosteens!) and I was able to eat the yogurt (delish!!!) so I did not feel deprived at all. Walking was totally manageable and my recommendation - which Garth says himself - is don't fill up too quickly! Highly recommend this excellent tour!!!

Come with a big appetite! - We had a great time with Garth, I love his food selection and the sequence we did the tour. I liked them all and would have wanted to buy the rice wine but it wont do well on air travel. I highly recommend the tour and come with an empty stomach!

Amazing food tour in Beijing! - During our trip to China we decided to book a dinner tour in Beijing to learn more about the Chinese / Beijing kitchen and food. The tour with UnTours was really amazing and Garth is a great tour guide!! He teaches you about historical facts and facts about the food. We tried a lot of different things! You should definitely go on the tour if you like to try some new food and drinks!

Take this tour on arrival in Beijing . - I enjoyed Garth's Beijing dinner tour immensely ; Garth is very knowledgeable about both China and cookery & makes a very considerate host . There was no shortage of food & beverages & we definitely went to places & enjoyed dishes I would not have encountered without Garth's guidance . He also provides a post tour package recommending restaurants and walks for later in your trip. I consider this to have been the most memorable part of my visit to China & I am now thinking of visiting Chengdu just to take the UnTour food tour there .

5 star food tour in Beijing - I thoroughly recommend the old Beijing Dinner Tour. It was a great introduction to some of the city’s best known dishes as well as some that I wouldn’t have known to try on my own. Garth was a terrific host, clearly passionate about food and life in Beijing. His sharing of history, culture and food customs made the evening even more memorable. If you love to learn about food when you travel this is a great way to spend an evening.

Fantastic experience - Garth's dinner tour was wonderful, 7 or 8 stops at a variety of venues. Starting at small hole in the wall places you would walk past and not even realise existed, shop fronts where we would not have know what they offered or what to order, a rice wine tasting and finishing in a private home. Instruction on how to correctly eat a hot pot, concoting your own spice paste to dip the meat and vegetables into after cooking was knowledge we utilised later on in our trip in China. The highlight for me was the sczechuan chicken wings which were sensational - I finally got the numbing and tingling experience properly after many fails in Australian restaurants. I highly recommend this tour, it took the guessworkout of ordering food elsewhere on our trip, and was great fun.

Fab evening - Great tour with Jesus (& apologies again for being late). We were a group of 8 and lovely company for the evening as we wandered the hutongs eating and drinking. Jesus was an enthusiastic and super friendly knowledgable. Guide with just the right amount of detail on each place. We ate Mongolian hotpot; yoghurt; donkey in crispy bread; chicken wings; noodles; sampled rice wine (& beer!); had some tasty bimbi and more. The 3 plus hours flew in and highly recommended.
