Island-Hopping Bliss: A Day in Exuma’s Paradise
When I heard about the Nassau to Exuma Full-Day Trip, I knew it was a must-do adventure. With promises of swimming pigs, nurse sharks, and a secluded beach, I couldn’t resist the call of the ocean.
Setting Sail to Exuma
The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I boarded the boat for the Nassau to Exuma adventure. The anticipation of a day filled with island-hopping and ocean exploration had me buzzing with excitement. As a former professional surfer, the ocean has always been my playground, and today promised to be no different.
The crew, led by the charismatic Carlo and Kel, welcomed us aboard with warm smiles and a promise of an unforgettable day. Their passion for the sea was evident, and their commitment to our safety was reassuring. As we set sail, the boat’s speakers came alive with music, and Kel’s impromptu lip-syncing and dance routine set the tone for a day of carefree fun.
Our first stop was Allens Cay, home to the protected Exuma Rock Iguanas. These prehistoric-looking creatures were fascinating to watch, but as the review mentioned, there’s only so much iguana-feeding one can do. The real thrill awaited us at our next destination.
Swimming with Sharks and Pigs
Compass Cay was our next stop, where the opportunity to swim with nurse sharks awaited. As someone who has spent countless hours in the ocean, the idea of swimming with these majestic creatures was exhilarating. The sharks, though intimidating at first glance, were surprisingly docile, and the experience was nothing short of magical.
Next, we headed to Pig Beach, home to Exuma’s famous swimming pigs. These quirky animals were a sight to behold, and feeding them was an experience unlike any other. The pigs were friendly, though we were warned they might get a bit cheeky if they suspected we were hiding food.
Lunch was served at Black Point, where we were treated to a feast of Bahamian delights. The rice, chicken, ribs, and fried fish were a testament to the island’s rich culinary heritage. With our bellies full, we took a leap off the dock into the crystal-clear waters, a refreshing way to continue our adventure.
Snorkeling and Serenity
The highlight of the day was snorkeling around the infamous plane wreck at Norman’s Cay. As someone who struggles with a mask due to my beard, I opted for swim goggles, which worked perfectly. The underwater world was teeming with life, and the sight of vibrant angel fish darting around the wreck was mesmerizing.
Our final stop was a secluded beach in Exuma, where we had an hour to soak in the sun and the serenity of our surroundings. The white sand and calm waters were the perfect backdrop for reflection and relaxation. As the day came to a close, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience such a unique adventure.
The journey back to Nassau was filled with laughter and shared stories of the day’s escapades. Tony, our skilled captain, navigated the waters with ease, ensuring our comfort and safety. As we docked, I knew this was a day I would cherish forever, a reminder of the beauty and wonder that the ocean holds.
