Arrival and First Impressions

As soon as we stepped off the cruise ship in Frederiksted, the warm Caribbean breeze greeted us, promising a day of relaxation and fun. Our family, along with another family we often travel with, made up a party of nine, with kids ranging from 12 to 22 years old. We were all buzzing with excitement for our day at Rainbow Beach. The transportation was a breeze—just a short walk into town, and we found a large van ready to whisk us away for a mere $6 round trip per person. The van was spacious enough to comfortably fit our group, and the ride was filled with laughter and anticipation.

Upon arrival, I must admit, my initial reaction was one of slight concern. The entrance didn’t quite match the picturesque beach I had envisioned. But, as we made our way through, the scene unfolded into a stunning stretch of white sand and crystal-clear water. It was like stepping into a postcard! The kids were already planning their snorkeling adventures, and I could feel the stress of everyday life melting away.

Setting Up Camp

Once we settled in, it was time to set up our little beach camp. We rented eight lounge chairs and two umbrellas, which were perfect for our group. The rental prices were reasonable, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The kids were eager to dive into the water, so we also rented snorkeling gear for just $5 a set. Watching them explore the underwater world was a joy, and I couldn’t resist joining them for a bit of snorkeling myself.

The beach was bustling with families and groups, all enjoying the sun and sea. It was the perfect setting for a family getaway, with plenty of space for everyone to spread out and relax. The kids played beach volleyball, while the adults took turns lounging and keeping an eye on the little ones. The atmosphere was lively yet laid-back, exactly what we needed for a day of unwinding.

Dining and Relaxation

As lunchtime rolled around, we wandered over to the nearby restaurant. It was a charming spot where we could grab a cold beer and some delicious local dishes. The menu had something for everyone, and the kids were thrilled with their choices. We enjoyed our meal with the sound of the waves in the background, a perfect soundtrack to our day.

After lunch, we returned to our beach chairs, feeling utterly content. The kids continued their beach adventures, while I took a moment to soak in the sun and reflect on the beauty of the day. Rainbow Beach truly lived up to its reputation as a must-visit spot in St. Croix. The combination of stunning scenery, family-friendly activities, and the ease of transportation made it an unforgettable experience.

As the sun began to set, we reluctantly packed up our belongings and headed back to the van. The ride back to the cruise ship was filled with chatter about our favorite moments of the day and plans for our next family adventure. Rainbow Beach had given us a day of laughter, bonding, and memories that would last a lifetime. I couldn’t wait to share this gem with all of you, my fellow family travelers!
