Setting Sail on the Ikos Wind

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I made my way to the D-Marin Gouvia Marina, the starting point for my latest adventure. As a former professional surfer, I’ve spent countless hours on the water, but there’s something uniquely thrilling about setting sail on a catamaran. The Ikos Wind, a serene and elegant vessel, awaited me and my fellow adventurers. Our captain, Denis, greeted us with a warm smile, and I was delighted to see Diamantenia, our gracious host, once again. Her presence promised a day of luxury and relaxation.

As we embarked on our journey along the northeastern shores of Corfu, the gentle sway of the catamaran and the soft breeze set the perfect tone for the day. Denis, with his wealth of knowledge, pointed out famous landmarks and shared intriguing stories about the island’s history. Exploring Corfu’s Hidden Gems

Our first stop was a secluded cove, a hidden gem only accessible by boat. The water was a mesmerizing shade of turquoise, inviting us to dive in and explore. As someone who has surfed some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, I can confidently say that the clarity of the water here rivals that of the Maldives or Egypt. Armed with snorkels and a sense of adventure, we plunged into the crystal-clear depths, greeted by a vibrant array of marine life.

The teenagers in our group were particularly thrilled with the seabob, a fantastic water toy that allowed them to zip around both above and below the surface. Their laughter echoed across the water, a testament to the joy of discovery and the simple pleasures of the sea. Meanwhile, I took the opportunity to paddleboard, gliding effortlessly across the calm waters, soaking in the breathtaking vistas that surrounded us.

A Blissful Return

After a morning of exploration and excitement, we returned to the catamaran, where Denis and Diamantenia awaited us with refreshments. Chilled Prosecco, delicious snacks, and soft drinks were the perfect accompaniment to our leisurely sail back. The onboard Bluetooth speakers played our chosen soundtrack, and as Cafe del Mar tunes filled the air, I couldn’t help but feel a profound sense of bliss.

The journey back was a time for reflection, a chance to savor the memories we had created. The Ikos Wind had provided us with an unforgettable experience, a day of serenity and adventure that will be cherished for years to come. As we docked back at the marina, I knew that this was not just another day on the water; it was a celebration of the beauty and wonder of the ocean, a reminder of why I fell in love with the sea in the first place.
