Isthmus of Corinth - The Isthmus of Corinth is a slender land bridge linking Central Greece with the Peloponnese. The canal carved through it connects the Saronic Gulf with the Gulf of Corinth. Spanning about 6 kilometers, its narrowest section is where the Corinth Canal was constructed (1880-1893). Historically strategic, a wall was erected here in ancient times (late 5th century BC) and remained until the Byzantine era (Hexamilion).

Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos) - Corinth was a city-state (polis) situated on the Isthmus of Corinth, the narrow land strip connecting the Peloponnese to mainland Greece, approximately midway between Athens and Sparta. The modern city of Corinth lies about 5 kilometers (3.1 mi) northeast of the ancient ruins. Since 1896, the American School of Classical Studies at Athens has conducted systematic archaeological excavations, uncovering significant portions of the ancient city. Recent digs by the Greek Ministry of Culture have revealed important new aspects of antiquity.

Akrokorinthos - Akrokorinthos is a steep, 575-meter-high rock that served as a lookout (Acropolis) in ancient times, guarding against invasions from central Greece or the sea. Acrocorinth is a monolithic rock that towers over the ancient city of Corinth, Greece. George Forrest described it as “the most impressive of the acropolis of mainland Greece.” With a reliable water supply, Acrocorinth’s fortress was often the final defensive stronghold in southern Greece, controlling the Isthmus of Corinth and preventing enemy access to the Peloponnese peninsula.

Temple of Apollo - The Temple of Apollo is an ancient structure built with 40 monolithic Doric columns, of which only seven remain standing over the ruins of the ancient marketplace. The original temple, dating from the early 7th to early 6th centuries BC, was constructed from stone, bricks, and wooden beams, featuring a heavy, complex four-pitched roof made of clay tiles. It was likely a simple design without external columns, but notable in other respects.
