Highly Recommended! - Me and a friend booked the Halloween tour for late October and we both had a wonderful experience. Nic and David are excellent guides and did a wonderful job of getting us around Romania. We started the tour in Bucharest and proceeded from there to explore all around Transylvania. The Transylvanian countryside is beautiful and the history of the region is fascinating. My favorite stops were Corvin Castle and the small medieval town of Sighisoara. If you plan to visit Romania don't hesitate to book a tour with Visit Transylvania.

Excellent tour and guide - I first got the idea to take a Halloween tour around Transylvania back in 2019 (for travel in 2020), and after researching different options, I found that the tour provided by Visit Transilvania was the best. I worked with David Jalea, the co-owner of the agency, to put a deposit on the trip. Then the Covid pandemic happened, and David was kind enough to move our booking not once, but twice -- and we also moved from a group tour to a private tour. The different Halloween party options changed each year, as well, based on pandemic restrictions and booking demand. Over a period of three years, David had excellent communication with me, answering questions, coordinating details, and helping to ensure our trip was planned perfectly. I'm happy to say that we finally made it to Romania in 2022, and we were thrilled that David chose to personally guide us on our 7 night, 8 day private tour. He picked us up in Bucharest, and showed us what he considers the best sites in Transylvania for the next week. We spent time in and around Brasov, Hunedoara, and Sighisoara, ending in Bucharest. In the middle, we went to a Halloween costume party (with tour of the castle) at Bran Castle, which the tourism industry has dubbed as 'Dracula's Castle' (even though there's no tangible connection between the castle and Vlad 'The Impaler' Tepes). We also had a special dinner on Halloween night at Casa Vlad Dracul in Sighisoara (where Vlad Tepes was born). There were a couple other sites we visited that had real connections to Vlad Tepes, which gave a little more meat to our 'Dracula tour'. haha. The itinerary as a whole was awesome and we saw so many great things. David's immense knowledge of the history and culture of Romania made our trip all the better and we were lucky to have him show us his country. He is very organized in his planning, as he's a local and he understands how long it will take to get to each location, and how long it takes to visit each site. He was always on time, and kept us on schedule. Having a local to translate and communicate with others was so helpful. He gave excellent recommendations for places to eat and dishes to try, and we often asked him to dine with us, as he was enjoyable to be around and his knowledge was a gift. We had many in-depth conversations about the history, culture, social structure, and politics of Romania - all of which helped us understand his country better. He was also happy to accommodate special requests, like finding a post office and stopping to look at the 'mobile bee hive trucks' (still one of my favorite finds of the trip :) ). Overall, we had a wonderful time in Romania, and it was absolutely due to David and his agency's experience and planning. Local guides are a treasure, with their specialized knowledge and expertise! Mulțumesc, David, for an amazing trip!
