Good Value - Typical Red Bus tour, worth doing to get an understanding of the city, but found the commentary to be boring and a bit jingoistic

First Time in Helsinki - Convenient way to get oriented to the town. Roof top on bus was opened and closed multiple times during scattered showers. Happy with our seats in the front on the top level. Boat is quiet time; provides info and views of the multiple islands.

As described - City Sightseeing was the brand we used. There are other red bus tours and it can get confusing. The canal boat tour was especially interesting. We did not listen to the commentary on the bus as we did not take the head phones from the front of the bus.

Excellent way to see the city - First time we went the audio didn’t work. When it did work it was informative. Comprehensive and interesting goes via the cruisers when they come in

Easy way to learn about the city - Typical red bus tour. Learned a little along the way. Its much easier to see everything upstairs but it can get rather cold.

Convenient n hassle free combination bus and boat tour. - As a tourist one always wants to see the maximum attractions in the shortest possible time and enjoy the places. The best way to achieve this is Hop on Hop off buses, first day of my trip to Helsinki I opted for the Super deal-BUS & BOAT COMBINATION. Helsinki is a beautiful city and offers a lot in terms of sight seeing, culture and architecture. City bus sightseeing covered 16-18 points starting from Senate Square/Helsinki City Musuem. It was guided tour in 10 languages and free headsets. There was wifi on the buses and the staff was fun and friendly. Boat cruise was also a nice part, it was basically a canal tour for Helsinki sightseeing again from a distant and broader view.... The ticket included discount coupans also for shopping or dining. It was worth the value indeed.

Stromma Finland hop on hop off and canal boat tour - Not much to see at the canal boat tour. Disrespect by one of the Stromma's Hop on Hop off bus drivers suspicious of us using fake bus passes to get on the tour bus. We felt being insulted and degraded. Wait time is long at each stop.

Timing of buses - The canal cruise was lovely and we went at the right time. The bus only ran every 30 minutes and didn’t match up with the boat meaning that we ended up only seeing a couple of sites. They company needs to run buses more frequently especially as this service is also part of the Helsinki card.

WORST hop on/hop off company EVER!! - If I could I would give them less than one star. ALL the info I received said they started at 10:00, so we didn't hurry getting off the boat. When we got there, there were AT LEAST 50 people in line, most of them just walking up and buying tickets and getting on the already-full bus. NO service given to those of us who had already purchased tickets, we went to the back of the line - behind people who had not even yet purchased, but were told they could purchase on the bus! We FINALLY got on the THIRD bus and decided to take advantage of the boat cruise when we got to that stop. HOWEVER, the person who took my voucher (which I didn't think he was supposed to take) failed to give me boat tickets, only bus tickets. THANK GOODNESS I had my receipt with me which showed I had bought 4 boat tickets, as well as the bus tickets. The boat ride was interesting and I would recommend just buying it separately. When we got back from the boat ride, we caught a bus (after waiting well over the 20 minutes promised) and when we got to the last stop, instead of continuing on, the driver announced he was taking a break and the bus would not leave again for at least 30 minutes. HOWEVER, the bus parked next to us would leave in 7 minutes. So about 20 of us got off the bus and went to the other bus, only to be told there were only 7 available seats!! When we returned to the first bus, he refused to let us on, saying he was "driving around the block to get a better parking space'. He returned 15 minutes later with a half-full bus, all the upstairs seats taken. We got back on and waited another 20 minutes to leave. Several people insisted on getting on the bus and standing because they had to get to the ship. When we arrived back at the ship, it was 1 hour until our on-board time, and a bus circuit was at least 1 hour and 30 minutes, so we never got to HOP OFF at all and saw nothing that was not on the boat tour or the main streets the bus drove.

Poor Quality Poor Service - Only half of the audio ports worked. The busses were old and rattled so loudly we could barely hear the audio. The tour only consisted of a 30-second blurb, which occurred at the same time the driver was giving an announcement. At the end of the day, we were given a special, direct bus back to the cruise ship terminal, which actually took longer than the regular tour bus which left 5 minutes after us. Although we verified with the tour staff that the bus would get us to the ship on time, we arrived after the final boarding time.
