Ma Pi Leng Pass - The Ma Pi Leng pass is the most impressive mountain pass in Vietnam at an altitude of 1,500 meters. It is located between Dong Van and Meo Vac, two cities in the far north of Vietnam in Ha Giang province, close to the border with China. It is the most amazing mountain road in all of Vietnam.
It lies along the asphalted national road 4C with the nickname “The Happiness Road”. The road was built in the 60s by a lot of workers, mainly ethnic minorities from the area. It took 11 years to finish the whole road.
It is known as the King of Vietnamese mountain passes. There are cliffs and abysses almost everywhere along the route and enough hairpin bends to get dizzy. The road along the mountainside has a romantic, breathtaking landscape that is ideal for motorcycling. The road to the top, considered “the Great Wall of Vietnam”, feels like a scene from a fairy tale.

Soon we reach Sa Phin where we find the one-hundred-year-old palace of Vuong Chinh Duc – the King of Hmong people. We go down the Highland of Stone and reach Yen Minh where we take lunch and then climb a mountain pass covered in pine forest and sweeping rice terraces along our drive. Down to the Song La river valley until the road takes us up to Tam Son, over the Quan Ba mountain pass and back to our base in Ha Giang city, where we will get on the bus back to Hanoi. Tour ends..

Ha Giang – the leading land of Vietnam with a cool climate and fresh air is an attractive tourist destination for tourists. Coming to Ha Giang, you will have many majestic landscapes, such as Dong Van plateau, Quan Ba twin mountain, Meo king palace, Ma Pi Leng pass, Lung Cu flagpole and many waterfalls and interesting caves. Will bring you a wonderful experience. The minimum time to give the Northern Ha Giang Loop Tour any justness is three days. We call it jokingly ‘hurry, hurry’ to. try to indicate that it would be three quite long days of motorcycling. It would be no possibilities for add-on activities like trekking and limits to time visiting the many attractions that the loop has to offer. The tour would still ensure the completion of the full loop with inclusion of Heaven’s Gate, the Highland of Stone, Dong Van, the Ma Pi Leng mountain pass and the backroads of the spectacular inner Ha Giang mountains.
