Wonderful and thrilling. Anytime I’m cooking I feel this way. I’m not Italian but I wish I was. - There were numerous parts of the farmhouse cooking class we enjoyed. It included the thrill seeking drive through the windy roads and the picturesque scenery of the fields of vineyards. Upon arriving Simon, the chef greeted us right away. He was prepared for us each to have a spot at a table to make pasta with clear instruction and help when needed. He was complementary as well when someone needed encouragement or guidance. The wine he served, for me I didn’t think I would like as I’m a drinker of white sweet but I loved the Chianti red. It was delicious. I loved the instructions and help he gave us with making the tiramisu as well. His particular suggestions and hints to have it come out perfect was great to know as I love not only to cook but to make desserts. Both of these recipes I will be emailing him for, just to make sure I get it all correct and I’d love to make this for extended family and friends. Simon and his helper John gave us free time to walk around the property while they cooked our pasta and plated it for us. I was particularly interested in the olive and persimmon trees that will soon be ready for harvest. He also used some of his Sage from his garden to dress our Pasta Ravioli. Our meal was served under the protection of a draping tarp to yield us from the sun and heat. This setting was a reminder of every alfresco scene I’ve ever seen of an Italian outdoor dining experience in a book or on canvas. Before we left our chef came and sat down with us and talked to us about our love of cooking. He pointed out the necessity of using fresh, in season ingredients and also what we had in store for the rest of our day. He gave us a few pointers of what to see and do in neighboring towns if we’d like. He waved us good bye as if we were family and treated us this way our entire time with him. This so far, has been the highlight of my stay here in Siena.

The BEST Italian cooking class - The most authentic farm house and cooking experience. So grateful we made the time to do this before we left Italy. Learnt easy techniques for cooking pasta and tiramisu. It’s about 20mins out of Siena so we took a taxi which cost about 45 euro but was worth it! Shared a taxi with others on the way back. Highly recommend this cooking class with chef Simone. Very generous with the wine flowing through the class too! Thank you xx

Local Experience - Viator double booked the class, meaning we had 23 instead of 12 people. Despite this, our host found a way to give everyone the attention they needed and really rolled with the punches. It’s special to see the Siena area from a local’s home outside of the city! I would recommend attending this class if you haven’t had much homemade pasta making experience. Also, it’s about 30 min from Siena center, so it’s good to have a car if you want to do this one.

Left stranded - We were looking forward to this and it's the only reason we went to Siena. We waited an hour at the meeting point listed on our confirmation and no one came. Another couple was there with us and they called and were told no one was coming to pick us up because they "were booked." We booked this 2 months ago and our credit card was charged.
