• The Great Meteoron Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Saviour - Up ahead is the Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron, the largest monastery in Meteora. Like some of the other monasteries, it also has a second name, ‘The Metamorphosis of the Saviour’ monastery.

• Monastery of the Holy Trinity at Meteora - The history of this monastery is a little sketchy, in part because it was built by different people at many different time periods. Some evidence suggests the earliest construction may have begun in the mid-1300s, but the bulk of the monastery likely dates back to sometime around the 1470s.
• Monastery of St. Stephan - This is the most accessible of Meteora’s many monasteries, so don’t worry about climbing another 100 or two steps for this one!
