Arrival and Pre-trip Meeting in Kathmandu

Places Nepal Trek and Tours - A representative from Places Nepal will greet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel in Thamel.

If your arrival is before 4 p.m., the pre-trip meeting will be held at our office. For arrivals after 4 p.m., our team will meet you at your hotel.

Fly to Lukla from Kathmandu/Manthali and Trek to Phakding (2,860 m / 9,383 ft)

Tenzing-Hillary Airport - The Everest Base Camp trek begins today with a flight to Lukla. A guide will accompany you to the airport. After a 45-minute flight, the trek to Phakding begins.

Note: Due to congestion at Kathmandu’s airport, flights to Lukla now depart from Manthali Airport in Ramechhap, which is a 5-6 hour drive from Kathmandu.

Phakding - This small town is filled with hotels. The trek includes walking through villages and crossing a bridge, with potential mountain views. The journey to Phakding takes 3-4 hours, where the night will be spent.

Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft) 5-6 hours

Namche Bazaar - After breakfast, the trek continues to Namche Bazaar, a Sherpa village at 3,440 meters. The route passes through villages like Thulo Gumela, Tok Tok, Benkar, and Manjo, and crosses the Hillary Bridge. Mount Everest will be visible for the first time. The night will be spent in Namche Bazaar.

Namche Bazaar Rest/Acclimatization

Syangboche Viewpoint - A rest day in Namche Bazaar helps with acclimatization to the high altitude. This popular spot is the gateway to Mount Everest. Options include hiking to Everest View Hotel or Khumjung Village, where a hospital and school founded by Sir Edmund Hillary are located. A yeti scalp might be seen in the monastery! The night will be spent back in Namche Bazaar, with more hiking planned for tomorrow.

Sagarmatha National Park Museum - A visit to the Sagarmatha National Park Museum is planned after lunch.

Namche Bazaar to Dole (3,680 m / 12,073 ft) 5-6 hours

Dole to Machhermo (3,870 m / 12,696 ft) 4-5 hours

Machhermo to Gokyo (4,800 m / 15,748 ft) 4-5 hours

Gokyo Ri - Lunch will be in Gokyo, followed by a hike to Ngojumba Glacier. The night will be spent back in Gokyo.

Morning Hike to Gokyo 4th Lake and Descend to Machhermo (5,357 m / 17,575 ft) 4-5 hours

Machhermo to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft) 5-6 hours

Namche Bazaar - The descent continues, with more mountain views and bridge crossings. The route passes through Thortse and Phortse, with lunch along the way, before reaching Namche Bazaar. Breathing is easier here, and the night will be spent in Namche Bazaar.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,840 m / 9,318 ft) 5-6 hours

Lukla - The trek back to Lukla involves walking through villages and crossing bridges. Arrival is in the afternoon, with time to rest and celebrate the trek’s success before flying back to Kathmandu.

Lukla to Kathmandu/Manthali Flight

Kathmandu - The return flight to Kathmandu/Manthali marks a return to city life. A car will take you to the hotel, providing a comfortable ride home.

TIA - Depending on your flight schedule, a representative from Places Nepal will ensure your timely arrival at the airport, concluding the trip. Looking forward to seeing you again.

The Gokyo Lakes Trek offers a stunning journey through the Everest region. Participants will explore four distinct lakes and ascend Gokyo Ri. This trek is less crowded compared to the Everest Base Camp trek.
