Gongabu - Depart from the hotel and drive to Gongabu New Bus Park to catch the bus to Machha Khola. The journey takes approximately 8-9 hours. (For those opting for a private ride, pick-up will be arranged from your hotel/location, with an additional charge for the private ride.)
Machha Khola - Machha Khola serves as the first overnight stop after a long drive. Accommodation will be at a local guest house.
Trek from Machha Khola to Jagat (1410m/6-7 hours)
Jagat - The trek takes about 6 hours, following riverbanks and passing through villages. A natural hot spring, “Tatopani,” is encountered along the way. The trek continues under the shade of trees to Dovan, where two rivers meet. After leaving Dovan, most of the day’s elevation gain occurs, offering changing scenery and surroundings. Overnight stay at a local tea house in Jagat.
Trek from Jagat to Deng or Dyang (1800m/6-7 hours)
Gorkha - Significant elevation is gained during the 7-hour trek. The trail offers captivating mountain views, including Sringi Himal. Overnight stay at a local tea house.
Trek from Deng to Namrung (2660m/6-7 hours)
Namrung - As altitude increases, settlements become sparse. The trek follows the Deng River, with Tibetan Buddhist cultural influences becoming evident from Ghap, marked by Mani walls and chortens. The journey continues to Namrung for an overnight stay at a tea house.
Trek from Namrung to Lho (3180m/5-6 hours)
Trek from Lho to Sama Gaon (3550m/5-6 hours)
Manaslu - The trek ventures into high mountain territories, traversing the Pungen Glacier debris to reach the small village of Sama. A further half-hour walk leads to Sama Monastery. Overnight stay at a local tea house.
Acclimatization Day in Sama Gaon
Manaslu - A rest day is essential for acclimatization and recovery. To aid acclimatization, it’s beneficial to explore the area and admire the Himalayan marvels. A day trip to Pungen Gumba (4200 m) is also an option.
Trek from Sama Gaon to Samdo (3690m/4-5 hours)
Mount Manaslu - A shorter walking day begins after breakfast, heading to Samdo. After lunch at the lodge, a day trip around Samdo Gumba is possible. Overnight stay at a tea house.
Trek from Samdo to Dharmashala (4470m/6-7 hours)
Mount Manaslu - Spectacular views continue to unfold. The trek follows the Budhi Gandaki River, now a smaller stream. The last settlement on the trail, Sumdu, is left behind to reach Dharmashala. The route passes a stream from Gya La, a pass to Tibet, and the ruins of Larkya Bazaar, once a thriving trade point with Tibet.
Trek from Dharmashala to Bhimtang via Larkey (5106m) Pass (9-10 hours)
Manaslu - This day is one of the trek’s most adventurous. After conquering the pass, breathtaking views of Himlung Mountain, Cheo Mountain, Annapurna II, and others await. The descent is steep through glacial debris to Bhimphedi. Overnight stay at a local tea house.
Trek from Bhimtang to Tilje (2300m/6-7 hours)
Tilje to Besisahar (Walk + Drive)
Besisahar - The trail descends alongside the Marshyangdi River. A short walk leads to Dharapani, where local rides to Besisahar are available. The local jeep journey takes 3-4 hours. Overnight stay at a hotel in Besisahar.
Besisahar to Kathmandu Drive on a Shared Bus (Private transportation available at an additional cost)
Kathmandu - After breakfast, return to Kathmandu on a long bus journey, taking about 7 hours. Upon arrival at the hotel, Outdoor Himalayan Treks offers a typical Nepali live cultural show dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant, or meals of your choice.
