Kathmandu - Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, situated at an elevation of 1,400 meters (4,593 feet), a representative will greet you and assist with your hotel transfer. Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, is a vibrant city filled with cultural landmarks, historical sites, and bustling markets. While the Himalayas aren’t visible from the airport, clear weather may offer glimpses of the snow-capped peaks from certain city viewpoints. The remainder of the day is yours to relax after your journey or explore the city at your leisure.
Day 02: Ride from Kathmandu to Jagat – 205 km (127 miles), 7-8 hours. (B)
Jagat - Today, you’ll embark on a ride from Kathmandu to Jagat, covering approximately 127 miles through scenic mountain landscapes and local villages. The journey follows the Prithvi Highway, known for its winding roads and expansive valley views. You’ll pass riverbanks, waterfalls, and the historic town of Mugling, a favored stop for trekkers. Upon reaching Jagat, a charming hillside village, you’ll check into a teahouse to rest and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. The “Manang Circuit” is famous for its rugged paths, making this ride both challenging and rewarding.
Day 03: Ride from Jagat to Manang – 65 km (40 miles), 4-5 hours.
Manang - The journey from Jagat to Manang spans 40 miles and takes about 4-5 hours. You’ll ascend from subtropical valleys into alpine terrain, passing through Chame village, which offers views of Annapurna II. Along the way, you’ll encounter stunning mountain landscapes and the renowned “Manang Valley,” celebrated for its dramatic views and monasteries. Upon arrival in Manang, you’ll have the chance to explore its vibrant Tibetan culture, monasteries, and local markets. Manang’s high altitude is a crucial step in acclimatizing for the trek to Tilicho.
Day 04: Explore Manang and Ride to Khangsar – 7 km (4 miles), 1 hour.
Manang - Today is a lighter day to aid acclimatization. You’ll explore Manang, famous for its “mountain views” and culturally rich environment, including the Braga Monastery, one of the oldest in the area. Afterwards, you’ll take a short 4-mile ride to Khangsar, lasting about an hour. This brief journey to Khangsar, a quaint village, offers stunning views of Annapurna and Tilicho Peak, setting the stage for the trek to Tilicho Lake.
Day 05: Trek to Tilicho Base Camp – 5.6 km (3.5 miles), 5-6 hours.
Tilicho Lake - Start the trek from Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp, covering roughly 3.5 miles over 5-6 hours. The trail is rugged and narrow, requiring careful navigation, making it an “adventurous trek” favored by thrill-seekers. You’ll traverse rocky cliffs and alpine meadows, surrounded by panoramic mountain vistas. As you approach Tilicho Base Camp, you’ll notice the stark, dramatic terrain that defines the Annapurna region’s high-altitude areas.
Day 06: Trek to Tilicho Lake and Return to Khangsar – 18 km (11 miles), 7-8 hours.
Day 07: Ride from Khangsar to Besisahar – 103 km (64 miles), 6-7 hours.
Besisahar - Today, you’ll begin your descent, riding from Khangsar to Besisahar, covering 64 miles in about 6-7 hours. The journey includes winding mountain paths and steep descents, requiring a steady and cautious ride. You’ll pass back through Manang Valley, with more opportunities to enjoy its cultural landmarks and breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Arriving in Besisahar, a gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, you can relax and reflect on the past days’ adventures.
Day 08: Ride from Besisahar to Kathmandu – 176 km (109 miles), 7-8 hours. (D)
Kathmandu - The final leg of your journey takes you back to Kathmandu, covering around 109 miles over 7-8 hours. This route follows the Marsyangdi River Valley, passing through beautiful landscapes, bustling local towns, and scenic “mountain highways.” Once in Kathmandu, you’ll join fellow travelers for a farewell dinner, celebrating the successful completion of your trek and ride to Tilicho Lake.

Kathmandu - On your final day, you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure. Depending on your flight schedule, you might have some time for last-minute shopping or sightseeing in Kathmandu. Although the Himalayas aren’t visible from the airport, the memories of the majestic peaks and stunning landscapes will surely stay with you as you head home. This itinerary offers a blend of adventure, cultural immersion, and breathtaking natural beauty, providing a memorable journey through the heart of the Himalayas.
