Highlights

Reykjanesbær

Keflavík International Airport - Enjoy a complimentary shuttle service from Keflavik International Airport or a hotel in Keflavik town to the CampEasy office, just a 5-minute drive from the airport.

Bridge Between Continents - Begin your day by exploring the Reykjanes peninsula, starting with the renowned Bridge Between Continents, where you can stand between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates.

Gunnuhver Hot Springs - Spend time at this geothermal area featuring steam vents, hot mud pools, and a stunning landscape shaped by ground minerals. The vibrant hues on the steaming surfaces with the Reykjanes lighthouse in the background make it a must-visit spot!

Kleifarvatn Lake - Visit Kleifarvatn, the largest lake on the Reykjanes peninsula and one of Iceland’s deepest at nearly 100 meters. The lake, fed by the porous lava ground, is home to many fish, especially popular with anglers. The lake’s simplicity, with lava ground covered in ancient moss, reflects Iceland’s beauty.

South Coast, Black Beach, and Horse Riding

Seljalandsfoss - Seljalandsfoss is a 60-meter high waterfall that you can walk behind. It’s a picturesque site, widely photographed and featured. Note that while entrance to the waterfall area is free, there is a parking fee not included in the tour price.

Dyrholaey - Dyrhólaey, or Doorhill Island, is the remains of an ancient island. The 120-meter rock formation has a large hole in the middle where ships once sailed through. Today, Dyrhólaey is a popular site in Iceland and home to many bird species.

Reynisfjall - Visit the famous Reynisfjall cliff on Reynisfjara beach. The basalt columns of the cliff wall create a unique atmosphere. You can sit on some of them and gaze at the three basalt rock formations in the Atlantic Sea, rumored to be trolls turned to stone by daylight.

Vík Horse Adventure - At 2:30 PM, meet Icelandic horses and go on a one-hour horseback riding tour. Afterward, spend time in Vík, a unique seaside settlement without a harbor, the only one of its kind in the country.

Fjaðrárgljúfur - Fjarargljufur Canyon is a must-see on the south coast. Its dramatic shape, cold river, and grazing sheep make it an incredible site worth the detour! This location was featured in Justin Bieber’s 2015 music video.

Kirkjubaejarklaustur - On your way to the campsite, pass through Kirkjubaejarklaustur village, home to 500 residents. Visit the Systrafoss waterfall in its charming surroundings and consider taking a walk to the top of the mountain for breathtaking views.

Vatnajökull National Park

Tröll Expeditions Skaftafell - Vatnajökull Glacier to Eastfjords
Distance: 393 km, 7 stops

Start your third day with early activities near your campsite. At 9:30 AM, begin the Skaftafell glacier hike on the Falljökull outlet, part of the Vatnajökull glacier.

Skaftafell National Park - Visit Skaftafell National Park with its many walking paths, including one leading to the beautiful Svartifoss waterfall, known for its dark basalt columns. Entrance to the park is free, but a parking fee is required, not included in the tour price.

Diamond Beach Jokulsarlon - Before reaching your campsite for the night, visit two jewels of the south coast. At Jokulsárlón glacier lagoon, see icebergs that broke free from Vatnajökull glacier float before reaching the sea. Then, visit the black beach where hundreds of ice blocks rest on the shore, sparkling like diamonds in the sun. Drive to your campsite for the night.

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon Boat Tours and Cafe - At 4:30 PM, take an amphibian boat tour, sailing among the stunning icebergs of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. During this 35-minute trip, taste 1000-year-old ice and learn about the lagoon from an English-speaking guide. Don’t forget your camera for a selfie with seals against the picturesque glacier backdrop.

East Coast and Seyðisfjörður

Djúpivogur - Start your day by visiting the Eggs sculpture in Djúpivogur harbor before heading to the Eastfjords. The 34 sculptures, varying in shape and granite nuances, light up Merry Bay for over 200 meters, representing various bird species that migrate to Iceland. This place is free to visit.

If interested, visit Petra Stone Collection, a unique collection of mineral stones gathered by Petra from an early age. The collection, displayed in her private home, features thousands of unique pieces from around the country. Note that this is a recommendation, and the admission fee is not included in the tour price. The visit takes 1 hour and 30 minutes, including driving time from Djúpavogur.

Seydisfjordur - Seyðisfjörður is considered the most beautiful east fjord in the country. Nestled between Mt. Bjólfur and Strandartindur, the village of 700 inhabitants is a landmark with its colorful houses. Seyðisfjörður hosts the annual Lunga Arts festival in mid-July, attracting locals and tourists. Drive to your campsite for the night.

North-East and Lake Mývatn

Rjukandi Waterfall - Start your day with a visit to Rjúkandi waterfall, just outside Egilsstaðir. The landscape to Mývatn is lunar-like, with surprising sites along the way!

Viti Crater - Viti and Krafla together form a stunning sight with their craters filled with emerald-colored water. Walk around and take pictures from various angles. You might also visit Námaskarð, a geothermal area with ground colored in red, yellow, and white tones by minerals.

Grjotagja Cave - Grjótagjá is a small cave with a hot spring that is too hot for bathing. Despite this, you can visit the cave and experience its tranquil, otherworldly atmosphere.

Dimmuborgir Lava Formations - No day is complete without visiting Dimmuborgir, a large lava field with caves and arches formed during a powerful eruption 2300 years ago. Take time to explore the park dedicated to these lava formations.

Myvatn Nature Baths (Jardbodin vid Myvatn) - End your day in the warm waters of Mývatn’s Nature Baths at 7:00 PM. Enjoy the sauna, steam room, and warm waterfall, along with panoramic views of the lake from the open-air bath.

Húsavik and Akureyri – Diamond Circle

Dettifoss Waterfall - Today’s itinerary takes you around the Tjörnes peninsula in northern Iceland, starting with Dettifoss waterfall. This impressive 100-meter wide and 45-meter high waterfall makes the ground tremble. Next, head towards Ásbyrgi. Start your day early!

Asbyrgi - Ásbyrgi is a unique shoe-shaped canyon formed 8,000 to 10,000 years ago after glacial flooding. Today, it’s a woodland area with a small lake at its heart. The 100-meter high cliffs and numerous walking paths make you wonder about its Ice Age past.

Godafoss - On your way to Akureyri, visit Godafoss waterfall, known as the waterfall of the gods. Legend says that in the year 1000, Þorgeir, who made Christianity official in Iceland, threw statues of Norse gods into the waterfall. The chute is 12 meters high and 30 meters wide.

Akureyri - End your day in Akureyri, the capital of the north. Akureyri offers much to see, including its lovely church perched on a hill. Visit the botanical garden and the swimming pool (admission not included), with outdoor slides for added fun. A 10-minute drive from the center takes you to the charming Christmas house, open year-round.

The Battle of Iceland

Grafarkirkja - Grafarkirkja is Iceland’s oldest turf church, a photogenic site with a magical atmosphere worth experiencing.

If interested, visit the Hofsós swimming pool, one of Iceland’s most popular and photographed sites. The fjord view from the pool is priceless. Enjoy Icelandic nature and tranquility. Note that this is a recommendation, and the admission fee is not included in the tour price. The visit takes 2 hours and 15 minutes, including driving time from Grafarkirkja.

Grabrok Crater - Stop at Grábrók crater, accessible to the top. After exploring the crater, visit Glanni waterfall, just 5 minutes down the road, before heading to Þingvellir National Park.

Thingvellir National Park - Þingvellir National Park is a Golden Circle site, a geological marvel with Öxara waterfall and Silfra Fissure, born from the continental drift. It’s also a significant historical and political site. Head to your campsite for the night. Note that while there is no admission fee, a parking fee is required, not included in the tour price.

Golden Circle and Snorkeling in Silfra

Geysir - Visit Geysir, where the Strokkur geyser shoots warm water up to 15 meters in the air. Geysir is the second Golden Circle site on your itinerary.

Gullfoss Waterfall - Complete the Golden Circle with a visit to the mighty Gullfoss waterfall, which drops impressively into a narrow gorge from 32 meters high.

Reykjadalur Hot Springs - Later, hike to the beautiful thermal river in Hveragerði. After a 45-minute walk in the mountains, reach this otherworldly site and soak in the warm river of Reykjadalur or steam valley. Don’t forget your swimwear.

Reykjavík

Sun Voyager - The famous Sun Voyager sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason conveys a message of hope and freedom. Located by the sea with majestic mountains in the background, it’s a must-see.

Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre - Harpa, the music and conference hall, is inspired by Icelandic nature. Note that while there is no admission fee to enter Harpa, a small parking fee is required, not included in the tour price.

Hallgrimskirkja - Hallgrimskirkja church is near downtown Reykjavik and the famous Rainbow Street. For a 360° panoramic view of the city, go to the top of the church. Note that while there is no admission fee to enter the church, there is a fee to access the tower, not included in the tour price.

Great van - Great service, well stocked van, and a smooth running vehicle that could go any where. Would have been nice to have cruise control and a back up camera. The iPad they give you is not very helpful. Heater was nice. The AC didn’t work well but we didn’t need except for a couple of times.

Loved this van! - We loved our CampEasy van! We used it for 7 nights and it was perfect for the 3 of us that used it. One thing that really stood out from other van companies was our tires. We hit a really bad snow storm in the North and the tires were great - several of the other vans we saw had very small tires and looked unsafe. We returned the van out of office hours and the return was quick and easy. We had a few questions while we were out and they were quick to respond and help. If we come back, we will be getting another van from CampEasy!

Amazing Van Provider! - Iceland's breathtaking landscapes demand a reliable companion for exploration, and Campeasy's rental service exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, the experience was seamless, marked by exceptional service, knowledgeable staff, and a van that felt like a home on wheels. The moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly, and the team at Campeasy provided us with thorough explanations about the van and its features. Their expertise not only ensured our safety but also enhanced our adventure, offering insights into the best routes and hidden gems Iceland has to offer. The van itself was a haven of comfort, boasting a mere 20,000 kilometers and equipped with everything we needed for our journey. Despite traveling in April and facing some chilly nights, the van kept us snug and warm throughout, allowing us to fully enjoy Iceland's beauty without any discomfort. As a family of four, the Viking 4x4 was the perfect fit for us, providing ample space and convenience without compromising on maneuverability. It truly felt like a dream on wheels, enabling us to traverse Iceland's rugged terrain with ease and comfort. Without hesitation, we wholeheartedly recommend Campeasy to anyone planning to explore Iceland. Their exceptional service, comfortable vans, and invaluable insights make them the go-to choice for an unforgettable adventure. Thank you, Campeasy, for making our Icelandic journey truly extraordinary.

A Viking Saga in Iceland - This was my 3rd time visiting Iceland but the 1st time using CampEasy. They have set the benchmark for camper rentals and I cannot recommend them more highly! Everything is as it says 'Easy'... the entire experience from booking, adding essential equipment, arrival and pick up to the rental site was seamless. We were greeted by Natalia who checked us in, ran through all the paperwork and critical information and introduced us to the tablet and app. This was a game changer... your digital guide for the entire journey giving you access to up date weather and road information, through to recommendations and a live chat to the team at CampEasy. The Camper was perfect, a rugged but homely and comfortable machine that took on any road or weather condition in its stride. It had everything we needed for two weeks in the wilderness and we grew very attached to our 4x4 Viking. The entire experience was truly spectacular. When we returned, the check out process was efficient and enjoyable. The team are genuinely interested in your experience and ensuring you have the best time. We had an issue with our final night hotel but the lovely Natalia sprung into action and got us sorted, even personally shuttling us to the airport. Thank you for everything CampEasy Iceland, the team and Natalia especially... we will back again!

Awesome rental services, had an amazing experience. From the point of getting information for booking car to dropping the rental - Awesome rental services, had an amazing experience. From the point of getting information for booking car to dropping the rental was very smooth, they took care of everything. They are always available on website chats and response is within minutes. They patiently explained everything over the chats which made renting very stress-free. When I arrived, Edoardo picked us up. He was managing my rental process. Super sweet and helpful person, explained the workings of the car driving rules and parking rules very thoroughly and made the process very quick, I was on road within an hour. The drive of Iceland plus the driving experience of Tesla was out of the world experience. The car was very good and well maintained, no issues came. I had rented Tesla for 9 days which went by like a breeze. Sleeping in the car was also simple, one suggestion travel light. Kudos camp easy for the wonderful service, keep up the good work and Eduardo for making the process so simple and hassle free. Highly recommend.

CampDifficult - They can be renamed to campdifficult with terrible communication. Found they had an event of a photography ring road tour and wanted to ask some questions via their chatbot on Aug 15. No reply forever (until today) Then a few days later I decided to book that tour anyway with a few nice things that were mentioned like ice cave tour included, campsites included, photography tour, access to highland during winter was also mentioned Then on Aug 22 I have received an email from them saying my trip was cancelled due to lack of participants and would offer me 50% off to go solo. I asked about a few essential questions about how to go solo and how to follow the original itineray and if those campsites were included etc and never got followed up. I found my booking number was invalid after I got cancelled and I didn't even know how much I paid. I waited and waited for 3 weeks and chased again and got no reply. I had to use the live chat and asked to raise a ticket again. Then this time the related person replied and did not even look at my questions if those were included. I asked about the 4x4 to highland part of the original booking (which I didn't know how could I go there in winter times) and what I got was a link to the road condition........... I asked for cancellation again the live agent said they don't take my response and it should take 24-48 hours for my cancellation feedback...... well I finally got the cancellation reply from the original person saying he just missed a couple of hours replying... I really had enough of them
