Arrival in Cochin

Kochi (Cochin) - Upon arrival, guests will be greeted with a garland and receive assistance at the airport. A representative will warmly welcome and accompany guests to the hotel in a private chauffeur-driven vehicle. While the room keys and check-in are being arranged, the representative will provide a “Welcome Folder” with documents and an overview of the tour itinerary.

Cochin to Alleppey (53 Kms, approximately 1 hour)

Alappuzha - After breakfast, guests will travel by road to Alleppey. Upon arrival, they will check in at a houseboat.
Alappuzha, with the Arabian Sea to the west and a vast network of lakes, lagoons, and rivers, is a district of immense natural beauty. Known as the “Venice of the East,” this backwater region is home to diverse wildlife. Its proximity to the sea has given it a unique place in Kerala’s maritime history. Today, Alappuzha is a popular backwater tourist destination, attracting thousands of international visitors annually. It is renowned for its boat races, houseboat holidays, beaches, marine products, and coir industry. A distinctive feature of this area is the region known as Kuttanad.

Alleppey to Periyar (138 Kms, approximately 3 hours)

Periyar Lake - After breakfast, guests will travel by road to Periyar. Upon arrival, they will check in at the hotel.
Periyar Lake is a haven for nature enthusiasts, offering the chance to observe wild animals in their natural habitat. The lake is also a paradise for birdwatchers. The most captivating feature of Periyar Lake is the herds of wild elephants that come to play in the water. Additionally, the Sanctuary Watch Tower provides a panoramic view of the park. In the afternoon, guests will tour the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the world’s most fascinating natural wildlife reserves. Spanning 777 sq km, with 360 sq km of dense evergreen forest, the sanctuary was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. Known for its unique geomorphology, diverse wildlife, and scenic beauty, the reserve attracts visitors from around the globe.

Periyar to Kumarakom (111 Kms, approximately 3 hours)

Kumarakom - After breakfast, guests will travel by road to Kumarakom. Upon arrival, they will check in at the hotel.
Kumarakom is a must-visit destination in Kerala, featuring the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary set in 14 acres of woodland. The sanctuary hosts a wide variety of migratory birds and offers visitors the chance to sail in its backwaters. Sailing in the houseboats, poled by local oarsmen, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. These houseboats are typically equipped with a living room, bedroom, private sit-out, and water-related activities. Kumarakom is also known for its historic churches and the highly popular Ayurveda treatments.

Kumarakom to Cochin (50 Kms, approximately 1 hour)

Cochin, often referred to as the “Queen of the Arabian Sea,” is the oldest European settlement in India. Surrounded by backwaters, the city has long attracted travelers to Kerala. The city tour includes visits to the Dutch Palace, built by the Portuguese and known for its murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, as well as the attire and palanquins of Cochin’s former rulers. Other highlights include the Koonan Kurishu Shrine, a small chapel; the Jewish Synagogue, featuring copper plates inscribed in Hebrew script; Fort Kochi; St. Francis Church, the oldest European-built church in India; Santa Cruz Basilica with its beautifully painted ceiling; and the Chinese Fishing Nets near Cochin’s harbor entrance.
