It is renowned for its boat races, houseboat holidays, beaches, marine products, and coir industry. A distinctive feature of this area is the region known as Kuttanad.
Alleppey to Periyar (138 Kms, approximately 3 hours)
Periyar Lake - After breakfast, guests will travel by road to Periyar. Upon arrival, they will check in at the hotel.
Periyar Lake is a haven for nature enthusiasts, offering the chance to observe wild animals in their natural habitat. The lake is also a paradise for birdwatchers. The most captivating feature of Periyar Lake is the herds of wild elephants that come to play in the water. Additionally, the Sanctuary Watch Tower provides a panoramic view of the park. In the afternoon, guests will tour the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the world’s most fascinating natural wildlife reserves. Spanning 777 sq km, with 360 sq km of dense evergreen forest, the sanctuary was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. Known for its unique geomorphology, diverse wildlife, and scenic beauty, the reserve attracts visitors from around the globe.
Periyar to Kumarakom (111 Kms, approximately 3 hours)
Kumarakom - After breakfast, guests will travel by road to Kumarakom. Upon arrival, they will check in at the hotel.
Kumarakom is a must-visit destination in Kerala, featuring the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary set in 14 acres of woodland. The sanctuary hosts a wide variety of migratory birds and offers visitors the chance to sail in its backwaters. Sailing in the houseboats, poled by local oarsmen, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. These houseboats are typically equipped with a living room, bedroom, private sit-out, and water-related activities. Kumarakom is also known for its historic churches and the highly popular Ayurveda treatments.
