Excellent Auschwitz and Birkenau Tour! - Really great tour, clear communication about pick up times and location to meet. Our tour guides Erik and Thomas were brilliant and very knowledgeable. It is a long day so make sure to bring snacks and a packed lunch with you as the breaks between locations are very short. There is a lot of walking around so being physically fit is a must and make sure to bring a jacket if cold as you are outside for most of the day. We had an excellent experience and definitely worth doing if interested in history.

Unique day out. - A very long day, but well worth it. We did the Salt mine first, which I liked as,after the camps, you are a bit down. Everything ran on time and the guide looked after us very well.

Excellent experience - Everything was very well organized, it was first the tour to Auschwitz and then to the salt mines. Each place had good quality Internal Guide. The driver and bus guide were very friendly all the time. The only thing I recommend is to bring something to eat lunch because between tour and tour we only had 30 minutes to eat.

Sobering. - At very late notice we were advised that there would not be a guide available and instead we were given a packed lunch and a guide book. Also we would not be being picked-up until 11am. We had paid to be picked-up at our hotel but it turned out that we had to walk about 400 yards to the coach collection point. It took about 30 minutes then for the coach to arrive and a further 30 minutes picking up other guests at various locations. The coach was modern, clean and comfotable. It was then a further 90 minutes to our first drop-off at Birkenau where we had to queue up for about 15 minutes to collect our tickets. We were told that we then had two hours before we had to return to the coach. There is a short walk from the coach park to the entrance of Birkenau which needs to be taken into consideration when you have to return by a set time. Fortunately the weather was nice but I would think that as the majority of the visit is outdoors that it could be a miserable in inclement weather. Not having a guide wasn't too much of a problem to us as it allowed us to take as much time as we wanted to look at things whilst guided tours appeared to be rushed. The downside is that you don't have the guides knowledge of the camp's history. We hadn't realised how vast the camp is and didn't have sufficient time to see everything before having to report back to the coach. There is a small cafe and gift shop at the coach park where snacks, drinks and souveniers can be purchased. We then took a short coach trip to Auschwitz where our 'tour' was booked for 5pm. We were told we had just under 3 hours before we had to return to the coach. Our tour operater Max managed to get us through the long lines of people queuing for the later tours. Again, it is about a 15 minutes walk from the ticket entrance to the main gate of the camp so that is 30 minutes off your available time in the camp itself. This camp has many more things to see with museum displays and information boards which take up more of your time. Fortunately, there were not too many visitors but I would think that you would feel pressured to move on from the displays or difficult to see them if it had been busier. Likewise if you have a guide I presume they move you on quickly. Time once again ticked away and we had to head back to the coach not having seen the whole camp which was a bit disappointing. A further 90 minutes return to Krakow where we were dropped off just around the corner from our hotel. All in all it was a long, tiring day but something everybody should see to understand the scale of the camps and man's inhumanity to their fellow man. Very sobering. Not having a guide wasn't too much of an issue but you really need a full day in order to try to see everything which is available.

Highly recommend Auschwitz birkenua tour - A great but very sad experience. Our tour guide was really informative throughout the whole tour and I learned some much more than I previously knew. My only issue would have liked to see a bit more in birkenua felt a bit rushed when we was there, but was plenty to see throughout the day. I Would recommend this tour to anyone

Supercracow. Fast track pass tickets don't exist!! - I had booked the Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour with Hotel Pickup, which promoted a fast track pass and an English guide. I had booked several weeks ahead and paid in full for 4 x adults with Supercracow, via Get Your Guide. 3 days before our trip, which was the evening before we were due to fly out to Krakow, I received an email from Supercracow advising that the museum had informed them that they could not provide a guide, claiming that they had no control over this. But, in the next sentence, it was suggested we could be transported to Aushwitz to allow us to join a queue to try to get tickets with a guide. This seemed very contradictory. Then, if this failed, it was suggested that we could try to get tickets without a guide. They had offered a souvenir book and lunch as compensation. At this point, it became clear that they couldn't have bought our tickets, even though I had paid in advance for them. I tried to make contact with Supercracow using the number provided on the Get Your Guide app, and another number I had found on searching for them. There was no reply on one, and the other gave an automated message in Polish. I responded to the email I had received, and my email bounced back as undelivered. I was now starting to wonder whether this company was a scammer. I made contact with Get Your Guide to express my concerns that I could not gain a response from them. I pointed out that I expected what I had booked, which was a guided tour arranged as a fast-track tickets. I suggested that if this was not available, then I would expect a reduction / partial refund of the ticket price. Get Your Guide tried to make contact via phone and also gained no response. They did assure me that the company were legitimate. As I had paid for the tickets and the short notice, I felt I had no choice but to wait and see. I was aware that I should expect a further email to inform me of a pick-up time the day before the trip. I also looked online, and there were no tickets that I could book directly with the museum for the day of our trip. After not having any further communication from Supercracow by 1.00pm on the day before our trip, I tried to make contact again without success. I recontacted GetYourGuide and suggested that they needed to take some responsibility in pursuing things with Supercracow on my behalf. GetYourGuide did agree to send an email expressing my concerns about the poor communication and not delivering what I had booked, plus my request for a reduced ticket price as they were obviously not able to fulfil fast track tickets if we had to go and queue in the hope of getting any tickets, with or without a guide. Surprise, surprise, Supercracow did eventually respond to GetYourGuide with a different version of events than I had raised concerns about. Interestingly, GetYourGuide accepted the issues I had raised and, as a goodwill gesture, confirmed that they would provide a partial refund for the stress and poor experience I had received so far. I only hope that they claimed this back from Supercracow. Well, I did eventually receive the email plus a WhatsApp message with our pick-up time - 5.00am !!! I was then notified by them that it would be 5.20am. This ridiculous time was obviously to allow us to get there as early as possible to be at the front of the queue to try to get tickets. We felt that we had to go along with this arrangement. There was no refund option, and we couldn't book any other tickets for the short time we would be in Krakow. Thankfully, we did manage to get tickets with an English speaking guide, but this was after leaving our hotel at a ridiculously early morning, arriving at the Museum gates half an hour before they opened, then waiting whilst the driver who had taken us queued to see if he could get tickets. We noticed several other drivers or reps doing the same. The ticket office appear to give out so many remaining unsecured tickets each day for guides in different languages. Our tickets were for the 8.30am visit. Whilst we were very grateful to the driver and appreciated his role in our day, we were less than impressed with Supercracow. They obviously run their trips on a wing and a prayer, banking on there being tickets available for their customers if they get there early and are prepared to queue and wait. I had checked their reviews in GetYourGuide and not seen anything too concerning before I booked. But since these issues I have searched their name and seen numerous dreadful reviews on TripAdvisor. I have tried to post this review on GetYourGuide's website, but somehow I've not been able to find how I can make my review about this provider. I had only been able to review GetYourGuide themselves. IN SUMMARY, BE VERY WARY ABOUT HOW YOU BOOK YOUR TICKETS FOR AUSHWITZ. IT APPEARS THAT YOUR TICKETS ARE NOT NECESSARILY BEING ORDERED IN ADVANCE. SO THERE IS NO GUARANTEE YOU WILL GET TICKETS ON THE DAY.
