Additional Information

Starting from the quaint town of Kritinia of Cretan heritage, you journey through a trail enveloped by Aleppo pines, strawberry trees, wild sage and prickly oaks that leads to a charming pebble bay featuring a pristine blue sea. The view you get during this trek is exceptional with the small islands of Halki, Alimia and other tiny ones emerging from the Aegean’s blue expanse. This image, combined with the fresh air you experience on this path, will etch itself into your memory.
After passing through the tiny bay, begins the climb towards the castle on a path that gets narrow before widening into an area filled with vineyards and olive trees wafting unique scents, mostly from small aromatic plants scattered across the landscape.
Post the castle visit, our adventure leads us back to the village, carried along by the fragrant whiff of citrus and fruit trees.

Best hike to Kristina castle and beac - The hike started from Kristina village. Meeting Elisa and Maria we started the lovely hike by going down a beautifully road looking towards the rocky beach we were heading at. Though most flowers are already gone at the lower places, we were lucky to see the poppies at full bloom, pink cistus flowers, the mastika trees and much more. The lovely conversation with Elisa and her knowledgeable explanations made the hike even nicer. We reached the hidden rocky beach, where after a short rest we climbed to the Kristina fortress and heard all about the pilgrims who built it. The view was amazing, as well as the climb back to the village. We strongly recommend the tour, and even more so Elisa!
