The Ukrainian Museum of Folk Architecture and Domestic Life is situated within an expansive landscape of approximately 150 hectares on the scenic outskirts of Kyiv. This fascinating outdoor exhibition boasts a variety of authentic wooden architectural structures from various Ukrainian regions. The property has been organized into separate sectors to represent the historical provinces of the nation.

The museum’s extensive collection features a diverse range of buildings, including water mills, forges, basements, wells, wooden churches, and an old school, among others. Visitors have the opportunity to explore these buildings and yards to gain insight into the nuances of rural life from days past, such as the traditional hearth which was a fundamental element of each ‘khata’ (home) for its multifunctional use in cooking, drying, and relaxation. On display are items which were integral to daily life, rest, wedding rituals, and include materials of wood and ceramic. The museum staff don national costumes for an authentic feel. Of its type, this museum is the largest institution in Eastern Europe.
