Highlights
  • Ribera del Duero - Ribera was named the best wine region in the world by The Wine Spectator in 2012. Ribera means “side of the river.” We aim to make your day special by visiting at least two wineries (possibly three if time permits). Departing from Madrid at 9:30 AM, we will reach the first winery in about two hours.

Afterward, you’ll have lunch (not included in the tour price). There are numerous restaurants where you can savor traditional Castilian cuisine. While this tour focuses on wine, we also highlight the area’s rich gastronomy.

In the afternoon, we will visit a second winery, distinct from the first. A third winery visit may be possible depending on our schedule. Along the way, we will showcase Ribera del Duero’s wine, gastronomy, landscapes, castles, history, and underground caves. What a wonderful and surprising day! - We were visiting Madrid for a few days and we booked this trip last minute because we wanted to visit some wineries in the Rivera Del Duero Region. We read some great reviews about Ignacio and this trip up north and we wanted to see if our experience would be just as wonderful. Boy did he meet all of our expectations and more. We ended up being the only two so we had our own private tour! On the way up north Ignacio gave us a detailed history of Spain which we really appreciated. We then stopped at an old bodega and had a great glass of wine. We went to our first winery called Val Satillo, and was pleasantly surprised because we had tasted that wine several times in the United States and it was one of our favorites. It was wonderful to be able to see where this was made and also to see the intricate wine caves below. He then took us to lunch at a busy restaurant serving traditional food and it was very tasty. After lunch, we went down to the caves. What a surprise to see all these intricate caves that are right below restaurant. Then we went to the last winery where they knew him so well that he was the one touring us around and did the wine tasting himself. Oh, and along the way we were able to stop at a beautiful castle overlooking the region. It was a very long day but well worth it. Please don’t hesitate to book this tour with Ignacio!

Perfect guide Ignacio - Our guide Ignacio gives us the best experience in the trip. At the start of the trip, he already brought us to a tapas bar to try some local food and wine. Then he brought us to 2 very different wine yard for a very unique experience. (One traditional with caves, one modern with lots of help from machinery) We are very happy with all his arrangement. And… the lunch place is really nice! Highly encourage Everyone to join this!

Engaging and informative tour - Excellent guide with great stories and food recommendations! Ignacio even made a few extra stops to show us some great views and interesting things like an ancient wine press machine and a giant oven for roasting lamb. Very engaging and informative tour, and my whole family enjoyed it!

Vino en la Ribera - Ignacio gives you a peek into the glamourous world that is wine in the Ribera region. Within the first few minutes you can tell he is a man deeply passionate about wine and the people who produce it. A man with a deep understanding and appreciation of wine. He strives to give you a truly unforgetable experience. Words simply aren't enough to explain the journey he will take you on because he will leave you wordless at every stop. Could not recommend more.

Perfect day out to Ribera - My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the outing to Ribera del Duero. Ignacio picked us up early and he started sharing the history of Madrid and onwards on the wine making and different styles between RDD and Rioja. We visited 2 vineyards ie Bodegas Valsotillo and Bodegas El Lagar de Isilla, and had lunch at the El Lagar restaurant. Firstly the wines at both bodegas were lovely, and they gave generous tasting pours. Lunch at the restaurant was excellent! Do order the lamb cutlets as it just melts off the bone. My friends still talk about the best lamb dish they had in this trip. Ignacio made the trip very engaging and he was very knowledgeable on the history and wine making techniques. Would highly recommend this trip to others.

This winery tour stands out as my most gratifying experience - It provided an in-depth exploration of the entire wine-making journey, starting from grape harvesting and meticulous selection, progressing through filtering and fermentation, to the wine barrel resting period, and concluding with the bottling process—all accompanied by insightful and detailed explanations. The experience included a delightful tasting session featuring seven or eight exceptional red and white wines. The tour guide,Ignacio, was exceptionally fluent in English, offering a comprehensive overview of the rich history of Spain and its intricate connection to the world of wine. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour guide for an enriching and enjoyable winery experience.

Wonderful Wine Tour from Madrid - We were a party of four and we were fortunate to be the only ones with Ignacio. This was the highlight of our one week stay in Madrid. We travelled comfortably in a nice van up to the Ribera del Duero wine country. Ignacio was entertaining and educational sharing Spanish history and the history of the wine in the area. We visited 2 wineries with different methods and approaches to wine making and learned SO much. We also had a delightful lunch in Aranda de Duero with authentic cuisine where we sampled and shared various dishes. It was a long and lovely day and adventure. I highly recommend this tour. Ignacio is a delight. He's kind, competent, and thoughtful.

Lisa was the best. We had an amazing time. - Lisa was the best. She took her time with us, showed us everything we needed to see. Recommended us in every situation when we needed advise. And most importantly, she went out of her way to consistently make sure we were having a great time and if we needed anything at all. First class service throughout. I would recommend this tour to everyone I know. Especially if you enjoy a tour guide who loves what she does and will make you feel the same.

Ignacio is a philosopher and all round lovely human being - Oh my gosh, what a treat. So much information and a lovely guide Ignacio who made us feel so comfortable on the drive and gave so many stories and understood the terroir and wine history that it came alive. We booked this based on other travellers reviews and just so happy to have done so. The lamb in the restaurant was Devine and felt so looked after throughout the day. Would recommend in a heartbeat. Rob and Jane Jones…….thank you Ignacio xx

Amazing experience with Ignacio and Winebus - Honestly I think this is one of the best guided tours I’ve ever had. Ignacio was extremely professional and so knowledgeable. I think what made it so good was that you can see the passion that Ignacio has for great wine, great food, history, and passion and love for his country. Definitely recommend using him and his company for a tour!
