Additional Information

Experience the harmonious Bayou lifestyle of the Cajuns amid the swamps. These waterways serve as their main transportation routes. Whilst enjoying the easy-going atmosphere of our sheltered New Orleans Swamp Tour Boats, you’ll glide by a 2000-year-old Indian Burial Mound, a Cajun graveyard, and a fishing village! Witness the natural inhabitants that make the Barataria Swamps the stand-out feature of the Louisiana Purchase. Within these marshes, you can easily spot birds, snakes, turtles, fur-bearing animals, and alligators - the swamp’s reigning monarch - during Spring, Summer, and Fall.

  • Folding wheelchairs are allowed, but the driver is not allowed to pick up a person to help them gain entrance. The customer must get into the minibus by themselves or with assistance from family or friends.
  • Please note you are not guaranteed to see a gator. They hibernate in winter months but are easily spotted in spring, summer, and fall.

Fun and informative - My friends and I booked this tour for our first time and it was so much fun. Our tour guide gave a thorough history of the wildlife and Bayou. We even got to hold a baby gator!! We booked with transportation and our driver Loraine also gave us great Nola history and food guide. She was super sweet.

Super Swamp Tour - Captain Ernie is a wonderful tour guide. He is passionate and knowledgable about the swamp and the plants and creatures that live in it. He was a delightful host who was happy to take questions. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour, think it's great value for money and recommend it, especially with Captain Ernie.

NOLA Swamp Trip - Had the best time with Captain Jason! He's super knowledgeable of the gators and history of the swamp. Also the boat was so nice! Covered unlike the airboats and you even get to hold a baby gator :)

You will see gators! - We had a great experience on our tour! We were picked up from the hotel within the 30 minute window and made it to the boat with plenty of time to get ready to board. The tour started right on time and our captain was fantastic! Very knowledgeable about the area and about the alligators, and extremely comfortable interacting with the ones that approached the boat. We saw at least 10-15 gators during the tour. Overall, great experience, highly recommend!

I wouldn’t recommend - The bus ride to the swamp was more interesting than the boat ride (bus driver born and raised in NOLA). You spend 1:30 hrs getting picked up and transferred to go to the swamp (one way). Then you’re on the boat for about 1:30 hrs. The “highlight” is when they take you to the gators and feed them marshmallows. The guide doesn’t give that much info or background on the environment or animals. After seeing the gators we just cruised around the swamp for an hour… not that interesting. Other reviews showed people holding baby gators but either it wasn’t the season or our guide didn’t care. A rip-off IMO
