  • Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque - Next is Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque Photo stop Only.

“Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque”, which dominates the skyline of Muscat. The mosque is square in shape which surrounds the central dome with a total height of 50 meters. The 5 minarets define the limits of the site representing the 5 pillars of Islam. The main minaret is 91.5 meters tall and the others reach up to 45 meters.
The main prayer hall (musalla) can hold over 6,500 worshippers, and the women’s prayer hall (musalla) can accommodate 750 worshipers at a time. The outside paved area in the gardens can carry around 8,000 worshipers; and with an additional usable area for prayer in the interior courtyard and the corridors, making a total capacity of the mosque up to 20,000 worshipers.
The total site area of the mosque is 416,000 square metres (102 acres) and the complex extends to cover an area of 40,000 square metres. This Grand Mosque was inaugurated by Sultan of Oman in the year 2001 to celebrate the 30 years of the Sultan Qaboos.

  • Royal Opera House - Then next is the Royal Opera House Photo Stop only.
The Royal Opera House Muscat is Oman’s premier venue for musical arts and culture. The opera house is located in Shati Al-Qurm district of Muscat on Sultan Qaboos Street.

  • Mutrah Souq - Then after we drive towards to Muttrah Souk.
The main attraction of Muttrah for visitors is the traditional market. This is one of the oldest souks on the Arab peninsula, although the building itself was rebuilt in the 1970s. A palm frond roof has recently been added to make it more authentic. Because tourists are a relative rarity this is very much a market for local people. The shopkeepers will try to attract the attention of curious visitors but not so insistently as in souks in more popular destinations.

  • Muttrah - Along the Muttrah Souk is the Muttrah Corniche.
Muttrah stretches along an attractive corniche of latticed buildings and mosques; it looks spectacular at sunset when the light casts shadows across the serrated crescent of mountains, while pavements, lights and fountains invite an evening stroll or a bike ride.

  • Al Alam Palace - Next Visit is Al Alam Palace.
Al Alam Palace (Flag Palace) is the ceremonial palace of Sultan Qaboos and lays in the heart of Old Muscat. Built in 1972, the palace is a fine example of modern Islamic architecture. The official residence of the Sultan of Oman is regularly used to receive distinguished guests visiting the country. The sultan resides elsewhere day-to-day, but if the Omani flag at the palace’s main entrance is raised, Sultan Qaboos is home.

  • Al Jalali Fort - Al Jalali And Al Mirani Photo Stop only.

Al Jalali Fort, or Ash Sharqiyah Fort, is a fort in the harbor of Old Muscat, Oman. The fort was built by the Portuguese under Philip I of Portugal in the 1580s on an earlier Omani fortress to protect the harbor after Muscat had twice been sacked by Ottoman forces. It fell to Omani forces in 1650.
