Nairobi City - Maasai Mara National Reserve
Nairobi - Today, you will be picked up from the airport or your hotel and given a pre-departure briefing before starting your safari. We will drive through the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley escarpment to Narok County, the land of the Maa people. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is part of the vast Serengeti plains, famous for the spectacular great wildebeest migration and home to the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, and Rhino. The intercounty borders have divided these two great national parks. Arrive for lunch at the lodge/camp and relax before departing for the afternoon game drive.
Maasai Mara National Reserve
Maasai Mara National Reserve - On the second day, you will wake up and have your morning breakfast. Today, you will enjoy a full-day game drive in the reserve with a picnic lunch. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is a preserved savannah wilderness in southwestern Kenya, along the Tanzanian border. The Mara Triangle, bordering the Mara River with lush grassland and acacia woodlands, is always good for a game drive. The Mara is perhaps best known for the Great Migration, which occurs annually. During these months, the yellow savannah is dotted black by more than 1.5 million wildebeest, zebra, and antelopes migrating from the Serengeti to the Mara in search of food and water.
Maasai Mara National Reserve - Lake Nakuru National Park
Maasai Mara National Reserve - After a restful sleep, you will wake up for breakfast and then depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, one of the best national parks in Kenya, known for its Rift Valley soda lakes. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and shown to your room. After lunch, take a game drive in Lake Nakuru Park, well known as a bird lover’s hub due to the numerous bird species that inhabit the park. Lake Nakuru is home to over 400 bird species, including flamingos that live on the lake and in the park’s savannah grasslands. Bird species include the African Fish Eagle, Slender-billed Greenbul, Long-tailed Widowbird, Rufous-throated Wryneck, Montane White-eye, Red-capped Lark, Northern Puffback, Rüppell’s Robin-Chat, Shining Sunbird, and many more.
Lake Nakuru National Park – Jinja (the Source of River Nile)
Jinja - Today, we head to Jinja. After breakfast at your hotel, you will depart Nakuru for Jinja, driving across the Malaba border. You will pass by the source of the Nile River, the world’s longest river, which begins its journey here before crossing through ten African countries and emptying into the Mediterranean Sea. Jinja town is regarded as the adventure capital of East Africa, brimming with adventure sports and activities, including white water rafting, bungee jumping, and kayaking. We encourage our clients to take a boat ride for an extra fee. It is always a dream boat ride on the longest river in Africa.
Jinja Town – Kabale - Lake Bunyonyi Uganda
Lake Bunyonyi - Wake up to a different climate zone and have your breakfast. Then, drive down to Kabale, Uganda’s highest town (2000m), witnessing beautiful, lush scenery along the way. We will camp at Lake Bunyonyi, Africa’s deepest crater lake (900m). Bunyonyi means “place of the little birds,” so you can expect to see interesting and unique birdlife while staying here. Enjoy a beautiful drive over the mountains as we transfer to our base in Kisoro, located on the southwestern tip of Uganda. You will have a relaxing evening as we prepare for the trek ahead. This is an excellent place to rest before your gorilla trek.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park - Today, we embark on the experience of a lifetime. Trek through the early morning mist in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, home to roughly half of the world’s 700 remaining mountain gorillas. The trek can be demanding and may take a full day - a water bottle and good walking shoes or boots are highly recommended. Experienced local guides will lead you through the thick mountain jungle. Once we locate the gorillas, we will stay and observe them for about an hour (this time is strictly regulated by the Uganda Wildlife Authority). Photography is permitted, although not with the use of flash (there are also restrictions on the use of video cameras). With or without a camera, this is one of the most breathtaking and emotional experiences Africa can offer and is certainly one that will remain with you long after your journey.
Bunyonyi Uganda – Kabale – Jinja Town
Jinja - Wake up in the morning and have your breakfast. Then, drive down to Jinja Town. Today, you have time for extra activities at your own cost. In Jinja town, we offer water tubing on the White Nile River, including exhilarating whitewater tubing, flat water tubing, extreme tubing, whitewater rafting, bungee jumping, quad biking, kayaking, horse riding, bike riding, boat cruises, and many more activities for fun and memorable adventures, but only if you are interested. Take a walk with your guide around the town and later return for an overnight stay.
Jinja Town, Uganda - Lake Naivasha National Park
Lake Naivasha - After breakfast, head north, passing through Naivasha town and driving around the southern end of the lake, past the flower farms to the entrance of Hell’s Gate National Park. Soon after you enter the park, the impressive landscape unfolds before you: a semi-arid world with sheer rugged cliffs, open plains, and deep concealed gorges. An afternoon boat ride at an extra cost among colonies of hippos will provide an ideal view over Lake Naivasha. There are many activities you can do in Hell’s Gate, including walking, cycling, rock climbing, bird watching, and trekking through the gorge among the geysers. The choice is yours.
