A delightful river cruise, and an engaging " I behind-the-scenes" look at the city's electric power infrastructure - A truly unique and eye-opening tour. As a fellow NYC tour guide, I can appreciate our guide Cullen Brown's professional expertise and passion for his subject, as well as the effort required to make his sometimes demanding content so accessible and entertaining. Cullen's enthusiasm is contagious, and I know my friends and I will henceforth look at the city's energy infrastructure -- and its shoreline -- with fresh understanding and appreciation. Thanks, Cullen!

Great tour - especially if you like the mini-series The Gilded Age - Though none of the buildings on Fifth Avenue were used in the filming of that series, we got to hear how these rich people lived. Our guide was so knowledgeable and patiently answered all questions. Hearing who lived where and on Fifth Avenue was so interesting. He pointed out the architect and the styles of many beautiful buildings. He gave a history of how Fifth Avenue became occupied and when by wealthy families in large homes built just for them. We also stopped at two places I wouldn't have thought of or known about even though I live in the city. The first was a statue along the Park of Richard Morris Hunt, the architect of the Metropolitan Museum of Art among other important buildings, and the 2nd building was part of the French Embassy which once housed an original Michelangelo sculpture (replaced by a copy).

Just right tour of the Gilded Age - This tour was exactly what we were looking for. Some of us were fans of the HBO series “Gilded Age,” some are just interested in the history. This tour had an excellent balance of both leaning toward the actual history. Richard was a superb guide: knowledgeable, friendly and extremely well-prepared. The pics he had to show what was in buildings we couldn’t enter or which are no longer there were essential to our understand. The tour length (2 hrs) was just right, too.

Jam packed two hour tour of the Guilded Age homes in the area of Manhattan where the rich and famous families lived. - This is a two hour walking tour of the area that was part of the era called the Guilded Age that spanned from 1880 to 1910 in Manhattan. Richard was our guide and he was knowledgeable about so many details of the people who inhabited these fabulous homes such as the Vanderbilts, Astors, etc. The tour was a history lesson as well as a unique experience.

Excellent guide - Richard was a knwledgeable and very engaging guide who brought the gilded age to life. Despite the very cold weather, the tour was fascinating, and we learned so much about mansions that were gone and a few still in existence. The guide's iPad had many photos and maps that illuminated his explanations.

Mansions - The tour was excellent. Alexis knew her facts and the history of the mansions was pretty amazing. In spite of the street closures we managed to walk around and find the sev=crets that lay between the modern buildings.

A rare glimse into the tangled lives and gorgeous homes of New York's ultra-rich founding families. - This was an interesting tour with a difference, learning about the Gilded Age Mansions of yesteryear along 5th Ave, built by the city's ultra-rich founding fathers, many of which no longer exist. Rhiannon, our guide, did a great job and knew her subject very well. We walked from site to site where the mansions used to be, where she'd explain the history, but rather than a building to look at, she would show us period photos on her tablet. The photo selections were good and brought the topic to life. Having done similar tours in other cities where what you went to see was still there, this felt a little odd to begin with. However, Rhiannon was very engaging, made the topic intriguing and interesting, and soon the whole group was hanging on every word. Fortunately, there were several buildings still in existence that gave us a great sense of what has been lost in the others. We were able to enter two, which are now repurposed, and the small inside glimpse we got helped us appreciate the grandeur that once existed in these amazing homes. Rhiannon supplied each of us with an earpiece so we could hear her, and that made a big difference, given the noisy New York traffic. My wife and I and another couple attended this tour, along with about six other people. We all enjoyed it, and judging by the number of questions Rhiannon received at the end, people were keen to know more. I would heartily recommend this tour to anyone interested in the city's earlier history.
