Amazing time at this Hanoi cooking class 😍 - Amazing time at this Hanoi cooking class 😍 Even the rain couldn’t dampen our spirits! It was so interesting to visit the local market stall and pick up ingredients. We got to learn about a variety of different foods from Hanoi, and it was so fun to learn to make them meeting new people! They also facilitated any dietary requirements (ie vegetarian) and were very careful of no cross contamination. The food at the end tasted delicious- Bun Cha was the favourite! Bella was a fantastic host! She was professional and knowledgeable, and also made the class so fun! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a cookery class! Thank you apron up team! 🙏💗

The Real Deal: Cooking (and Eating) a Five-Course Vietnamese Meal! - Impressive scope of five types of food, including sauces and tastes, with a good range of courses and techniques with friendly, open and helpful staff. In Danang, this outfit has their own building near a super fresh, stocked local market with serious selections and miraculous displays of fruit. It was interesting to see from start to finish, how the raw ingredients are used across different dishes, with easy orchestration of aromatics across the broth/soup, sauces, canapes, pancakes, and wraps, and how simple it is to make visually appealing and colorful. They provide little cookbooks after (with adjustments to some of the recipes for what is fresh that day). I turned out to be the only one signed up for the class - so it was a private cooking lesson for me plus the two young staff members, who were supportive, conversational, competent and fun, answering my 1,000 questions about culture, contemporary life and food of course in Vietnam. They were great! The structure of the class is organized and efficient, while also well-paced and not rushed, and it's a big surprise to see all of the food spread out on the table when you're done! (Note: it is a generous amount of food per person, and you can takeaway what you can't finish! Except maybe the avocado ice cream :)) My only suggestions to management might be to give solo sign-ups the option to join with other groups - it tends to be more fun all around! And to offer low-sugar in addition to the vegetarian option. Also, I'm nerdy and super curious about the history, influences and nuances of food. Maybe put in the cookbook and program some explanation on why these dishes and menu were selected: e.g. Northern vs. Central vs. Southern Vietnamese dishes, or sauce influences from France, which of the ethnicities within Vietnam, and/or neighboring countries. And perhaps add some instruction and discussion on eating etiquette: specifically Vietnamese techniques of how to wrap and eat the food, what is considered polite or rude in whether and when to use hands, how to use napkins and utensils etc - during in the eating time and not just food preparation.
