Great experience getting scuba certified! - I got my open-water scuba certification with Vallarta Adventures. Gustavo was super helpful and clear with the in-pool training, and gave me a lot of opportunities to practice ! Johnnie instructed me in the open-water dives and was super reassuring and experienced. I had a great time and never was concerned about safety, they were both very knowledgeable and confident ! I also have a pretty small face so my mask kept slipping and filling with water, and both instructors were patient and competent with getting it fixed without making me worry or choke underwater

Worth every penny! DO IT! - This was one of the highlights of our whole trip! Absolutely incredible and very reasonably priced for what you get. We had two unbelievably beautiful dives, our guide Ali was very professional and made sure we were all feeling safe and secure the entire time. After the dives we still had ample time to enjoy the delicious lunch buffet and swim and relax on the stunning and picturesque island. However the boat ride there and back had to have been some of the best parts of the whole thing - the crew is so hilarious, lively and accommodating. They even put on a completely unexpected performance on the ride home that had us crying laughing and losing our minds! This is SO fun. Unreal experience!

Beginning scuba for boomers - I have always been curious about scuba diving and decided to take the 2 day course in Pueto Vallarta with Vallarta Adventures. The manager Jens explained my options taking into consideration that I am a 73 year old female. There is a beginning certificate that was perfect for me: 1 day in the pool to get the basics (4 hours) with Ana, a very patient and encouraging teacher and 1 day at beautiful Caleta beach with a staircase to enter the sea in shallow water with Israel, a very kind and safe instructor. Both accomodated my strength and stamina limitations and encouraged me, allowing me to repeat skills until I felt confident. They make scuba accesible to everyone. Although nervous, I never felt afraid. I am proud to say I got certified!

Amazing Arcos - Amazing scuba dive at Los Arcos. Our guide Hugo and our boat captain Julio were both great, very enthusiastic about the marine life, including the birds we saw during our break. On the dive we saw at least eight octopuses, plus an eagle ray, a trigger fish, many eels, several stone scorpion fish, and more puffer fish than were countable. Then right as we were getting out on the last dive, a turtle showed up to say goodbye to us. One of the best dives I’ve been on.

Caveat Emptor - We booked a trip to Marietas Island to go scuba diving on September 5th, 2024. After some late additions to our crew, we canceled and rebooked to do Las Caletas through instead. I was told there would be a 10% cancellation fee and we would be refunded in 15-20 days. This was on September 15th. I am still waiting for my refund over 60 days later. I have contacted them numerous times and the one time I received the response, “We see that the refund is in process due to a high volume of cancellations. There has been a delay, we have placed this refund as urgent so it can be processed as soon as possible”. I’m still waiting and haven’t received any responses to my follow-up emails. This is my review of the Scuba diving with a 5-Star PADI Center. I will post a review of the Las Caletas tour separately.

Worst scuba diving of my life - I generally avoid leaving bad reviews, but this one is critical due to serious safety concerns. We went scuba diving with this company, and it was a disaster. There was only one divemaster for eight divers, and four of them had only completed a one-hour training session. Consequently, everyone was disoriented. Two individuals suffered ear injuries, and two others couldn't dive due to anxiety. I strongly advise against diving with this company because you risk ending up in the hospital. Their approach is highly irresponsible. I cannot stress enough: do not use this company. Additionally, avoid diving after just a one-hour training session. Invest the time to complete the full open water course and choose a company that prioritizes safety above all else. This company is large, and to them, you are just a number.
