- Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden - The Nuwara Eliya tea factory we visited is known as Damro Labookellie Tea Centre (formerly Mackwoods) and is the oldest tea centre in Sri Lanka. Their tea bushes are replanted every century across more than 5,000 hectares of verdant tea plantations. This factory produces white and black tea, while green tea is processed at another facility and then sent to Damro. Each type of tea has a unique production process, which you can learn about during a tea factory tour. The tour at Damro is free and concludes with a delightful tea and cake tasting at the Damro Tea Lounge.
- Ramboda Waterfall - Located in the Ramboda area of the Nuwara Eliya district, Ramboda Falls is another well-known waterfall in Sri Lanka. The Ramboda Oya river flows majestically through the Ramboda valley, creating a stunning trilogy of waterfalls within a few kilometers of each other, near the Colombo – Kandy – Nuwara Eliya main road. The first and most famous, Upper Ramboda Oya Fall, is about 1.5 km from the main road. To reach this waterfall, you need to take a footpath starting near the Middle Fall, which is right next to the main road. The uphill hike to see this 12m tall beauty is enjoyable, with steps along the path until you reach it.
- Post Office Nuwara Eliya - This grand Tudor-style building has two stories and a prominent clock spire. The Nuwara Eliya Post Office was built by the British in 1894, making it one of the oldest post offices in Sri Lanka.
- Lover’s Leap Falls - This picturesque 30m high Lover’s Leap Fall in Nuwara Eliya originates from the streams and brooks of Sri Lanka’s highest mountain, Piduruthalagala (2524m).
- Gregory Lake - Lake Gregory, also known as Gregory Lake or Gregory Reservoir, is a reservoir in the heart of the tea country hill city, Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. It was constructed during the tenure of British Governor Sir William Gregory in 1873. The lake and its surrounding area are known as the Gregory Lake Area.
- Single Tree Hill - The name “Single Tree” has been used since ancient times. The top of this mountain offers an excellent view of the sunrise. Situated 6890 ft above sea level, it takes about 90 minutes to reach the summit. Single Tree Hill is the best vantage point to appreciate the beauty of Nuwara Eliya and the Haggala Mountain range. From Single Tree Mountain, you can enjoy spectacular views of the entire Nuwara Eliya Town, including other mountains such as Piduruthalagala and Haggala.
- Seetha Eliya - The Sri Seethai Amman Temple is unique, built at the site where Seeta Mata was imprisoned by Ravana approximately 5000 years ago. It is also one of the few temples dedicated to Seeta.
