- Salto do Cabrito - On the way towards Ponta Delgada, we will stop at the refreshing waterfall scenery of Salto do Cabrito. The course on/off road may vary according the climate conditions.
- Lagoa do Fogo - The Fogo Volcanic Complex, features an abundance of species of endemic flora and secondary volcanism manifestations, that consists on fumaroles and hot springs. The caldera of the Fogo Volcano is the smallest caldera collapse of the island of São Miguel, with about 15 thousand years. Given to its location in altitude, it is the most natural area and with the less human intervention suffered. It is an important hydrologic resource being classified as a Nature Reserve since 1974.
Because of its structure, it plays an extremely important role particularly in the replacement of underground water, regulation of the water cycle, biomass production, retention of sediments and nutrients and is therefore classified as Ramsar site.

Pico da Barrosa ascends to 947m above sea level, offering along its path a glimpse into the variety of local wildlife and plants. Concealed within a vast crater, at a height of 575m above sea level, is the stunning Lagoa do Fogo, positioned at the apex of the Fogo (Fire) Volcano. The scenery’s grandeur intensifies our sensory experience, enriched with lush, sometimes indigenous, vegetation set against a breathtaking backdrop that showcases the splendor nature bestows, imprinting an indelible mark on your memory.

Give Carpe Diem Tours a try! - Tour guide Jose Maria Santos was an excellent host. His pride in his culture and sense of humor made the tour lighthearted and fun. The fog lifted just enough for us to view the spectacular Lagoa Do Fogo. We visited several swimming areas, including Praia De Santa Barbara Beach. Jose also brought us to a waterfall and a picnic site with fumarole cooking areas. There is so much you can learn about a place from a good tour guide that would be hard to know otherwise, including good restaurant recommendations. Our tour with Jose was time well-spent!

Great tour, perfect way to become familiar with the island. - Had a great tour, learned so much about the island; its history, culture and formation. Friendly and informative.
We were able to enter areas that private vehicles were not permitted avoiding crowds and saving time.

Great tour! - This four-hour tour of São Miguel was a fantastic experience. The tour guide, José Santos, was exceptional and made the trip memorable. He had passion for the island and extensive knowledge about it, and it was clear he genuinely enjoyed sharing the beauty and history of the island with me. The tour covered a wide range of sights, and I also learned a lot of history. José took the time to answer all my questions and also recommended some hidden gems.

Amazingly beautiful - Jose was very knowledgeable for every aspect of the tour. The views are breathtaking! Jose took us on routes that are definitely off the beaten track which made the tour very interesting. Fogo volcano is a must see and we would recommend this tour to everyone visiting Sao Miguel.

Great Jeep tour of the island - Jose was a wonderful guide! It was off season and he took the time to adapt the tour to what we would be able to see on the day (despite the fog). He was so knowledgeable and really went the extra mile- would highly recommend!

One of the best! - We had the best time on our tour! We did a half day tour to Logoa do Fogo and our only regret was not booking a full day tour. It was so fun with many great stops and lots of awesome history and information about the island.

Wonderful Experience - José made this tour wonderful! The drive was so beautiful, and the stops along the way were incredible. There was fog over the main lookout point, but we still left feeling like we hadn't missed a thing! The 4X4 car allowed us to see places we never would have gone on our own.
José adapted the trip based off of our pace, which made this tour such a comfortable experience. José was a wealth of knowledge for the history of Sāo Miguel. We learned so much! This tour was wonderful!!

BEST Azores Tour!! - José María was the absolute BEST guide!! Could not recommend him more. He is Incredibly knowledgeable on the history of Portugal and the Azores, he is funny and very personable. He is also very patient and is willing to take all the pictures you may want. Best your guide on the island, you will be very happy!!!
