A must-do experience for history lovers - I was delighted with the Hidden History Tour. Dugan is a fantastic and entertaining storyteller with a wealth of historical information. I especially appreciated his inclusion of notable women in his tales of Portland of yore—so rarely done on historical tours. I highly recommend signing up for a tour with Portland by the Foot.

Getting to know Portland, Maine - Loved this tour. Just the right pace and length of time. Learned about Portland’s past, present and future with pictures from past while visiting sites of the city today. Our guide was entertaining as well as informative.

Excellent Lesson about Portland - Portland by Foot deserves its Best of the Best Award. We try to go on walking tours whenever we visit a new place, so we've been on many. Dugan's tour is among the best we've experienced. You get a lot of information about the history of Portland (the evolution of its economy, geography, transportation) that helps inform the rest of your stay. Dugan has a wry sense of humor, which added to the enjoyment. The tour is an excellent value. Lots of entertainment for the dollar.

Like a comedian for a guide! - Incredibly fun tour. I'm not a history buff, but Dugan made the tour incredibly entertaining and insightful. He was knowledgeable, engaging, witty, and made my laugh at just about every stop. We had a customized tour for our architecturally focused business group. You could tell there were some political leanings that got mixed in (which makes sense given the other tours that Dugan offers) but it was done in a way that was respectful, insightful, and not too pushy. Dugan was engaging and gave me an experience I'm excited to tell other about when I return home!

Informative, thought-provoking, and fun! - Easily one of the very best tours I've been on. Dugan's pacing is as good as the best standup comedian - and he is humorous, but also passionate about this city, its history, and its future. We enjoyed is very much. An excellent value, too.

Wonderful tour with Dugan - We had a wonderful tour with Dugan. He was well organised and fun. We learnt a lot and would have gone his black history tour on Tuesday, except we were in Falmouth, Mass, by then. The whole walk felt very personal and I particularly loved the church and being able to hold a canon ball.
