WELCOME TO THE ALTO NAPO WILDLIFE REFUGE

Bajo Pusuno (Ahuano) - Our Amazon adventure kicks off at Pusuno Bajo, where our team will greet you and continue the journey to Suchipakari Amazon Lodge. Just handle your carry-on and camera gear; our staff will take care of the rest of your luggage.

13H00 PM | Welcome Lunch

Suchipakari Rainforest Hotel Jungle Lodge Ecuador - Upon arriving at the EcoLodge reception, our manager will welcome you with a refreshing drink and provide a brief orientation about your stay at Suchipakari Jungle Lodge & Spa. After settling in, one of our Naturalist Guides will share essential information about the tropical rainforest, the Amazon, and our DISCOVERY PROGRAM, ensuring you have the knowledge to fully enjoy this incredible environment.

Sendero Ecológico El Gran Ceibo - Next, put on your rubber boots and join our native guide for a hike, where you’ll learn about local medicinal plants like dragon’s blood, ginger, guayusa, and the straw used for instruments, costumes, and construction in the community. Swing on vines like Tarzan and snap a photo at The Great Ceibo, the giant Amazonian tree.

Rio Pusuno - We’ll then head back to the Eco-Lodge to grab swimsuits, life jackets, and inner tubes for a refreshing float down the Pusuno River from one of its sandy beaches.

Back at the Eco-lodge, take a break and enjoy a jungle mojito—it’s simply amazing. Your guide will then explain the next day’s activities.

Suchipakari Amazon Lodge & Jungle Spa - After dinner, prepare for our night excursion. Bring your camera, flashlight, long pants, long-sleeve shirts, and rubber boots. You’ll be amazed by the nocturnal wildlife, including owls, fishing bats, tarantulas, snakes, and frogs, experiencing the Amazon rainforest up close.

BIRDWATCHING, HIKES & RAINFOREST WATERFALLS

Suchipakari Rainforest Hotel Jungle Lodge Ecuador - This day is open for enjoying one or more of the lodge’s optional tours. Nature lovers may want to start with a daybreak birdwatching tour before breakfast.

Though there are nearly 30 rainforest waterfalls around the reserve, only four are accessible to guests. With your guide, you can choose which waterfall trail to explore. Water is essential to life in nature, and there’s nothing like a refreshing dip at the end of a hike.

Opt 1: RUMI YAKU waterfall with a primary rainforest hike, combining a paddle canoe excursion to observe wildlife and visit Monkeys Beach.

Opt 2: Adventure to the RAYUCOCHA Waterfall, featuring a demanding hike on ancient trails leading to a hidden waterfall.

Opt 3: UMBUNI waterfall, then continue to the paicawe Lagoon, and playa de monos.

Opt 4: PARROTS TRAIL, small waterfall and interacting with a Kichwa family on the return journey.

Laguna Kawana Reserva - Enjoy a paddle canoe ride through the Kawana Fauna Production Lagoon Reserve and discover a rich diversity of plants and animals across two distinct landscapes and ecosystems

Playa de los Monos - Afterward, you’ll visit the Misahualli port, where you can observe monkeys playing in the forest adjacent to the beach, offering an ideal spot to witness the setting sun paint the sky pink over the rivers (Misahualli and Napo) and lush forests. Here, you’ll also have the opportunity to purchase local crafts, products, and souvenirs before returning to the Eco-Lodge.

Suchipakari Amazon Lodge & Jungle Spa - Take some time to refresh in the pool before dinner. Later, your guide will provide a detailed explanation of tomorrow’s activities, promising an adventure along the Napo River and a chance to truly immerse yourself in the rainforest’s depths.

NAPO RIVER FULL DAY EXCURSION

Suchipakari Rainforest Hotel Jungle Lodge Ecuador - After breakfast, take a short walk to the Pusuno port, where you’ll board a comfortable covered boat for a scenic ride along the Napo River lasting approximately 1.5 hours. Keep an eye out for aquatic birds along the way.

Rio Arajuno - On the shores of one of the beaches along the River Arajuno lies the renowned ANIMAL REFUGE known as AmaZoonico. This sanctuary was established to protect and care for the native wildlife of the area, including animals that have been injured, mistreated, or confiscated from smugglers.

Ahuano - Next, visit an Indigenous Community where members of the Kichwa tribe will share insights into their customs, cuisine, and daily life. This center provides a unique opportunity to learn about Amazonian lifestyles along the Napo River.

Finally, stop at a ceramic crafts workshop before returning to the Eco-lodge.

Special Dinner & Jungle Lodging

Suchipakari Amazon Lodge & Jungle Spa - To round off your experience, treat yourself to our exceptional spa therapies, offering a rejuvenating immersion into the lush beauty of the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador. MORE THAN JUST A HOTEL IN THE RAINFOREST - SuchiPakari is a magical hotel. The instructions were clear, and the arrival was relaxing with no traffic on the road. We were greeted by Xavier with great joy, warmth, and a fragrant guayusa drink. We were informed about all the amenities of the hotel and the activities available. Our superior room was very lovely, new, and clean, with extremely comfortable pillows and mattress. The bathroom was modern with jungle touches. The breakfast was abundant and complete. The food was truly delicious, with gourmet dishes very well presented at good prices. The bar offered drinks and cocktails to suit all tastes. The little beach by the Pusuno River was very close; we walked there and swam in its waters. At night, we went for a walk, observed insects, plants, snakes, and above all, the stars shining like diamonds in the sky. I still can't decide which day was better: the motorized canoe tour visiting the animal rescue center with the alligator lagoon, or the day of hiking to one of the waterfalls around the lodge... a beautiful primary jungle... that allowed us to jump into the river and eat at the foot of the imposing waterfall, finishing with a visit to the indigenous Kichwa community. On the last day, we learned how to prepare chocolate from cacao seeds. In summary, it was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend staying at SuchiPakari because it was a fabulous experience. And thanks for helping us with the return transfer to Quito via the Cascades route in the city of Baños.
