Embrace the Rain: A Thanksgiving Weekend in Quepos

Thanksgiving weekend in Quepos is a time to embrace the lush, tropical beauty of Costa Rica, even if the weather forecast calls for rain. The overcast skies and frequent showers only add to the mystique of the rainforest, creating an atmosphere that is both refreshing and invigorating. As the sun rises at 5:33 AM on November 23rd, the day begins with a sense of adventure.

Start your morning with a Horseback Ride through the verdant rainforest of Manuel Antonio. This tour, available from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM, offers a unique opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the area on horseback. As you ride through the lush landscape, you’ll be greeted by the sight of a stunning waterfall, where you can take a refreshing dip in the cool waters. The tour includes a delicious lunch made with organically grown ingredients, providing a taste of local Costa Rican cuisine.

“A surprising find. This was an awesome experience. Great tour that focused on conservation in modern Costa Rica. The horses are beautiful and well trained. The guide, Randall, is excellent and makes sure everyone has a great time. He takes great photos and gives them to you at no charge. Lunch at a local restaurant was excellent. Don’t miss out on this experience.” - Reviewed on 2024-02-17

Riding the Rapids: An Afternoon of Adventure

As the day progresses, the rain showers become more intermittent, providing the perfect opportunity for a thrilling afternoon adventure. The River Tubing Adventure on the Savegre River is available from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM, offering an adrenaline-fueled journey through class II+ rapids. This personalized experience is perfect for those seeking a rush of excitement while surrounded by the lush beauty of the Costa Rican landscape.

The journey begins with a safety briefing and gear fitting, ensuring that you’re prepared for the adventure ahead. As you navigate the rapids, you’ll be immersed in the vibrant surroundings, with the chance to spot local wildlife along the way. A stop at a beautiful waterfall provides a moment of respite, where you can enjoy fresh fruits, cookies, and juices before continuing your journey.

“Fantastic tubing adventure! A group of 10 adults had an awesome morning tubing with this group! The drive was a bit long and bumpy getting there, but beautiful scenery and we were given lots of interesting tidbits along the way. Our 3 guides provided us with helmet and life jacket, gave a thorough safety briefing, divided us up into 3 groups and we were off! The first part were grade 2-3 rapid rating and they were fun and at times challenging. A few of us were flipped off the tubes with big waves, and the guides were right there to reassure and help us to get back on safely. We stopped halfway at a beautiful waterfall where we enjoyed fruits and snacks, and the guides took great pictures.” - Reviewed on 2023-01-23
